However, as others have said, there is still the chance for the SE/EA to be hit later on, even if we miss this system.

The lightning strikes have edged East as the low moves up the channel. It's not really even in the most unstable part yet (NE France, SE England) So, if this is what it's doing now, guess what's going to happen then?

What a total non-event that turned out to be. All the fricking hype and nothing. A shower, that was it. I think Sutton is officially a storm free zone.

Was that my last chance of having a storm ? I've seen nothing this year.

Exactly, it's still far too early for people to be ruling anything out.

Well the first wave has fizzled out as it crossed Surrey.  Ocercast skies aloft now. Very flat looking. No AuCs or for that matter cumulus of any description.. Posted Image

Yes, it gave a shortish shower over Kingston, with a bit of a cool breeze; now bright cloud aloft and humid. I do hope we get to see some of the good storm activity tonight.

One strike showing up to the east of Bicester, could be a stray mapping

There does seem to be some heavy showers developing in that area on the radar.

If you watch this : http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur&lightning=1 : you'll note that the lightning refuses to move out of the Theta-E 50degC contour, even though the rain has made it onshore in C England.

Guess, where that contour and the low pressure will be this evening,

Doesn't matter how heavy the precipitation is, doesn't matter what the track of the storm: if you ain't got no fuel, you ain't got no thunderstorm.

Evening All,

Well, managed to get my hair cut and coloured and it stayed dry outside (bar a rain shower around 3.30pm)  Nothing else of note as of yet, but boy oh boy, just looked at the latest radar returns, and I must say, I am feeling quite excited at what looks to be heading our way.  Fingers crossed the Channel doesn't kill off any electrical activity...

Ignoring precipitation charts (they're always unreliable in these sorts of setups) the wider scale synoptic stuff looks OK to me :)

So on that basis do you think East Anglia could get some then?
