It's very windy here in Ippy. More like October than August. Very nice though.

Back from the coast this afternoon and here it's more like late September with the wind blowing and spits of rain.  I see it is supposed to get better during the week and the met office forecast seems not to bad although there is a mentioned that the bank holiday weekend could be different although it's a long way out.

Wow. Blowing a gale here at the moment. Well, not literally a gale, but you know what I mean! Breeziest evening for quite a while.

But I have to say, the past two days have been nothing like as wet as forecast. Ten minutes of light rain around 4 this afternoon, and a couple of hours of nothing-too-heavy yesterday. Hence lawn still straw-like.

A bit cooler here today thanks to a refreshing breeze - had a little bit too much of everything yesterday so been taking it easy in the shade of a parasol and in the pool for most of the day...

Well we tried to get a marquee up today, was alright till we got to the cover, which we kind of expected to be like putting up sail, and it was, so looks like an early rise tomorrow instead to finish what the weather would not let us do today ready for a party.

 

Amazed at just how strong that wind has been today for the time of year.

looks dry

 

uppers a shade higher so temps around 22-24 and locally maybe a shade higher

Overnight rain has cleared and the sun is trying it's hardest and although there is still some cloud, the wind is blowing most of it away.

 

There's a chance of rain towards the end of the day here, but I think flying should be very good today at Airbourne.

Love the pics coast,saw the Lancaster+Spitfire just after they took off from Biggin hill.....flew overhead as i was coming round the M25 near clacket lane services. Disappointed i couldn`t hear them through the crash helmet!

There'd have been great sunset photo potential here (lots of different altitude cloud) if the Sun hadn't set into a bank of cirrostratus. A few miles east or north would have made a big difference.

 

As the Summer is nearly done now   is it too early to mention a Christmas Regional get together, after last year's successful event?

Morning folks,

 

An unexpected brief - but quite heavy - shower yesterday afternoon. And another one just after midnight. Quite a novelty really, given the dryness of this summer. (Haven't been able to say that for a few years!)

 

Currently 15.7° under a cloud-free sky. But there was certainly just a hint of autumn in the air first thing.

 

As an aside, at some point overnight, one of the panes of glass in my front porch has cracked into a thousand pieces. On the inside! And I have no idea what on earth caused this to happen. Two pics so you can see what a mean; a "good" pane, and the shattered one right below it. Anyone with a better knowledge of science than me know why this might have happened?
