Very pleasant out there, looks like much of our region is getting the sunshine and a little bit of warmth:

Benson 22.6 °C
Brize Norton 20.3 °C
Charlwood 23.3 °C
Gravesend 22.8 °C
Heathrow 22.2 °C S
Herstmonceux 21.5 °C

Good afternoon all,

And what a fabulous afternoon it is. Just a few wisps and puffs of cloud passing overhead at the moment. Other than that, it has been a day of unbroken sunshine. And the temperature has just hit 26° according to the weather station. Lovely dry air with it too.

It's hard to believe the nights have been getting longer for two months now. Already a third of the way to lengthening days again!

Indeed Lee. it is a stonker of a day; wall-to-wall sunshine, hardly any wind and 24C...Posted Image

I was just thinking, it's currently 27.2C here and I suddenly realised that in just 2-3 months, the leaves would be nearly gone, darkness would set in at around 5pm, 27C would never get reached statistically for at least another 4-5 months and we could be seeing single digit maximums. All that is just 60-90 days away.

So really, after fridays very warm day, we may not see 27-29C until May! Posted Image Make the most of it :D

I just find it amazing how quickly the weather and environment can change in a relatively short amount of time. In 30 days, the leaves will start turning brown! Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Not any more Coast, now we survive off zero hour contracts with zero job security...oh just like chimney sweeping then.

Possible localised flooding on Saturday going by the GFS? Predicting up to 40mm.

GFS does currently show it to be brutal, but NMM has it more to the SW from Hants downwards and largely out of our region:

if it's that bad here, you could always try living and working in somewhere like Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Bulgaria or Sudan...

Lovely late August day almost over. Max of 26.5°. So not too far behind Gravesend. Which makes sense as it's only about 10 miles away.

Seeing the words "thunder" and "thundery" twice each in the MetO's London/SE forecast fills me with zero confidence that we'll see any such activity, I'm afraid to say! Will very quietly and surreptitiously keep my fingers crossed though. Posted Image

Puzzled by sudden talk of showers and showery rain later tonight and tomorrow - where's that popped up from after all the talk of a glorious week at least up to Friday night?

Lovely day here, took a walk along the seafront at Brighton. I didn't think I'd need the sun cream... How wrong I was!

hi all

heres the early fax charts

Posted Image

tomorrow

a weak south to south east flow

note the trough over the south east

heres what ukmo show

Posted Image

Posted Image

think wet is the answer and possibly heavy

Posted Image

temps should be around 25-26 and maybe a shade higher IF you miss the rain

poss thundery bits in the heavier bursts after lunchtime

Posted Image

thurs night

still heavy rain but gradually easing in the early hours

very humid  ( windows open tonight)

Posted Image

friday

a weak south east flow

it should stay dry but that trough is a bit too close to the far north east of the region for comfort

temps 25 where cloud sticks 28-29 where it clears

note the trough to our south

Posted Image

friday night

a variable but mainly westerly flow

low pressure slap bang over the south east

Posted Image

gonna be a sticky night maybe holding around 18 degrees

there should be some very heavy thundery showers with this set up but can only call potential

radars at the ready Posted Image

Posted Image

saturday

windy and pulling from an easterly direction

Posted Image

still reasonable uppers but tagged by the wind and rain

temps around 22-24 degrees

Posted Image

yuk

update the rest later

Evening all :)

It's definitely turned muggy during today. It looks like I'll be in a rainy zone tomorrow morning :(

The Bank Holiday is looking iffy too, to my eyes. Still, no surprise there. :( I've got to say I'm finding posts about the post Bank Holiday forecast improvement a little tiresome (only a little though and they are not being made here) as good weather in midweek is of little benefit to a whole lot of people

  • Bank Holiday weekend weather - a mixed picture

It's a mixed picture for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend. at times, sunshine and warmth with little wind. However, thicker cloud in the north will bring rain and showers. Also rain by Sunday for Cornwall. Read the full update here
