Definitely signs of stormy weather out to the west (looking towards Herefordshire from the Malverns):

Had 19mm of rain yesterday.

The radar looking very lively in my locality, showers are intensifying quite quickly in situ and expanding eastwards. Looks like some pretty heavy downpours are imminant here, fingers crossed for some more thundery activity :)

Within the past 30 minutes, there's been a few rumbles of thunder (didn't see any visible lightning though, as I was being a lazy ass and couldn't be bothered to get out of bed :p), also two separate heavy downpours too. The 2nd one has just finished - but no lightning or thunder with it. :/

Anyone else's raintoday radar stuck at 9am?

Yep - the last frame is 10:00 so it's about an hour and a half behind for me. Today of all days I need a reliable radar - supposed to be doing a bbq for forty this afternoon in Bristol lol.

Some very loud thunder and torrential rain here at the moment, this year is definitely going down for one of the better years for thunderstorms for sure! :)

Loads of showers about on radar but so far anything has weakened to a brief light-moderate shower that didn't even dampen the roads much here, hopefully we can get some good downpours or maybe even thunder later.

Well it looks like another irritating day, meteorologically speaking, as I watch a whole batch of heavy showers and thunderstorms develop from the West Midlands across to Leicestershire southward while here it's the sort of day that the ever upbeat weather presenters on the t.v describe as 'usable'.

Unfortunately I'm not interested in usable. Usable, if I may venture a musical analogy, is One Direction whereas I want Napalm Death .

Heavy rain and thunder now.

Edit: Make that torrential.

When they say slow moving shower s, they are not joking.

Also very strange to see so much blue sky and black cloud over different parts of the sky at the same time.

Can't see much happening here to be honest. Cells to the south and east of me are moving northeastwards, cells over Wales are moving in this direction but taking too long and will probably die a death over the Severn. Ho hum - at least it's sunny.

Several recent rumbles of thunder during a downpour, no lightning observed as it's a very messy surface based storm with torrential rain and low cloud. The NW detector shows the strikes to have been on the Western edge of Salisbury Plain as the storm moved W-E so perhaps the upslope caused more uplift in the cloud. Still raining but sun breaking through to aid more convection for later hopefully.

Thunder & lightning, torrential rain for about 40 mins around noon - earlier than yesterday, but now grey & dull with steady rain! At least we had some warm sunshine before and after yesterday's storm. Best year for as far as I can remember here in Central/south Somerset for thunder/ lightning. Happy days.

Radar looking interesting now east, south devon and towards W somerset

Skies now brighteneing from the SE.

Ended up with 13.1mms in the hour

Temperature now rising again and has increased from 11.9min to 12.8c .

Still o T& L

Of interest I watched this storm move up from the SW, around Worcester to around Coventry. It then started to move NW and now seems to be going back to te West.  I guess that the trough is straight over us now, but it seems to be moving very slowly.

It may be that you guys in the south might hang on to the showers and T&L loger than you think.

MIA.
