Hope everyone's enjoying the mad weather, tis pretty wild out on Cape Clear at the moment. Woke up to snow yesterday in west Cork, had loads of hail sleet and snow showers during the day, then thunder and lightning last night, followed by todays storm, great weather!

Reports of a 91mph gust at Cork recently - is it that bad or a reporting error do you guys think?

Probably not an error at all, I've been dreading this storm for some time, and not surprised to see MetE putting it as a red alert.

Recorded a top gust of around 110km/h on my handheld anemometer at around 3pm out here while hiking, but definitely missed out on some much bigger gusts, which I'd estimate hit about 130km/h. The wind sounds ridiculous now, so I'd say the gusts are easily approaching 140km/h.

The Met Eireann forecast for Sunday onward is quite interesting.

"A hard frost will set in for a time on Sunday night but rain, preceded by sleet and snow, is likely to develop in the south and west of the country later. A mixture of rain, sleet and snow will then spread countrywide during Monday, and there may be a risk of significant accumulations of snow further east and north eventually. Generally cold conditions seem set to persist well into next week, with further threats of snowfall from time to time."

Aye I posted that earlier Born, looking like an interesting period of weather coming up. In the meantime Rachel is screaming like a deranged ex

Sorry, hadn't yet caught up with the last few pages yet.

Wind seems to have eased a little here, still pretty loud though.

It is absolutely howling here right now. There will be a lot of storm damage by daylight.

Pressure 972hPa right now, gust of 75kph recorded on my less than trusty station… It does truly sound and feel a lot stronger than that

Had an extremely heavy shower of hail mixed with rain @ 8pm the winds were insane very strong and blowing from all different directions! The temp dropped from 9° to 5° during the 5 min shower and it left a couple of cm's of slush on the ground!

The temp hasn't risen since and the rain has cleared on the radar, so I went to look at the NW forecast to see if the temp was to stay low and this is what it was showing! the system is obviously down lol :)

fair spread in temps at minute. 9c belfast, 4c derry and most west coast stations at 7c. think the rain band has mostly moved through now.

That squall line just finished passing through now, had a really strong gust that went off the scale on my weather station (that usually happens above 70mph, but doubt that's what it was….

Had a mix of hail and heavy rain, and the temp has dropped to 7 from a high of 10.3 (I think) about an hour ago.
