Heavy showers in the past hour or so gave a couple of rumbles.

All the thundery activity just a little too far west. Need it to push east!

Showers seem to building nicely. One shower south of Gloucester now producing sferics and plenty of South Wales.

I think we are going to miss out on the real action here - the bands have organised themselves as such to run East & West of us.

I had a torrential downpour in Exeter at about 10:15 and we had one here in Newton Poppleford at 08:37. So, far no rumbles and looks like the shower to my SSW that's torrential may go E.

It's infuriating, and now we're stuck under the outflow cloud from those further west. My fingers are crossed for when the wind backs more westerly later.

Seem to have avoided all the thunder here in NW London and most of the rain too!

I would say give it some time. The day isn't done yet. The rain around my region is not part of the risk imo so I am not looking at that. Once the afternoon becomes later then I feel it's the time to start watching closely, If anything gets close to me I'm free to chase today.

Keeping an eye on the showers coming up through Devon/Somerset/Wiltshire, these may build further given the CAPE of a few 100j/kg and vertical sheered environment.

I like how it's now my job to look at the radar while at work :D

Just had quite an intense shower go to the south of me, looking very tasty across the Midlands right now though, but not much electrical activity...

Some downpours sitting to my SW which should head this way although the heaviest stuff looks to slide to my west and east (as usual). Sferics in the showers that will head to my east and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the showers to the west of me soon.

Massive rainstorm in Argyll Street central London. No thunder, lightning or severe wind - just a lot of rain. only a shower though and now the sun's out.

So where's all this potential and when will it show itself?

Sferics galore now popping up over the Midlands with lightning in the cells around Walsall, lots between Coventry and Rugby and then some around Shropshire/Welsh borders. I have my fingers crossed for a late season treat around these parts.

Those strikes had avoided Stratford quite well. The North of Coventry is quite active at the moment, however activity is increasing across England and Wales.

Tomorrow could also be interesting.

Heavy rain here now, Sferics West of Derby on a cell that looks to be heading this way.

It will be very welcome seems as the last storm we had here was 2 months ago!

Big long lasting rumbles from a cell to the south east. Going to miss us I think but not bad for 2.40pm. Lots more cells out west by the looks too. Interesting day ahead.

With it being October the day isn't particularly long any more though remember! Only an hour or two of meaningful solar heating remains.
