Pretty windy here this morning too with mainly blue skies. Did have one shower rattle through a little while ago but looked more like rain than anything more wintry. Temp was around 3/1C when I checked around half an hour ago, so on forecast.

Midweek continues solid road to verification, this system first appearing on the charts earlier this week on Tuesday. Will be quite a verification coup for GFS(p) as ECM continues to trend over to the GFS solution, clusters looking more certain now, whereas previously a more varied set of solution.

Similar looking solutions across the 00z suite - enough here to highlight the exact track still requires pinned down re: movements North or South, dependent on when the system completes it's bomb development.

Clearer now. Time to feed the chooks their porridge breakfast. (Just been out and is cooler but doesn't feel all that cold yet)

Thanks Edo for the heating advice:). House actually still feels ok this morning even though I've no heating on.

A rash of heavy showers are showing up on the radar at the moment and most of these are already of sleet, snow or hail. Going into the afternoon it really should be snow all the way for Scotland in any showers with cold uppers and low thickness levels across the country.

The question for during the day is will the snow lie on low ground. Around lunchtime it doesn't look likely other than temporarily in heavy showers but later in the afternoon looks a bit more promising.

Top gust in the last hr now 96mph recorded at the Lerwick Met Obsy which is probably what did for my anemometer!

I see a gust of 101 mph was then recorded. Stay safe!

Currently snowing here and still a bit windy, gusting at 56mph (nothing compared to yesterday).  Temps falling steadily now so hopefully I might see some actually stick later on in the day/evening :)

LS, what's the chance I that storm getting downgraded? or not being such a direct hit (on me)....

I'm away at Uni and my mum is away in Tenerife (it's alright for some...) so 5 dogs and 4 horses are being taken care of by the neighbours.... That storm could prove problematic in this situation

Edit: snow in the showers but it looks like I'll be too marginal today for any lying snow. I wouldn't have to travel that far to see some though :)

Already the showers are of a right mix here. Amazing the flip considering how balmy it felt yesterday

Peach of a satellite from Eumetsat this morning, perfect contrast of air masses, showers already pepping up on radar, readily turning to snow, just a case of how much 'oomph' pushing them through..

Heavy snow showers blowing through here in monikie for the last hour. Starting to lie due to intensity. Fairly windy still. Can't believe the temp drop over the last 10 hours!

Blustery snow showers on and off this morning but not sticking yet.

Hopefully they can keep going through the day and overnight. 3.5C/0C at the moment.

PG junior is obsessed with building a snowman (thank you, Frozen!) - just wait until he gets to go sledging for the first time!

Sounds a very wild morning up in Shetland - tak tent and stay safe everyone.
