We had snow showers earlier and whiteout conditions with hailstone, covering grass and pavements and the road, think weve lost our baby conifers arghh! Weve had more white stuff today than the whole of winter!!

Winds calmed down here maria but didnt they say we havent had the worst of it in the north west yet? Im sure thats what it said on ITV news earlier today, think tonight was supposed to be the worst, after last night i dont think it could get any worse to be honest! Been bloody crazy today and last night!!

Very intense shower lasting for about 10 minutes, mainly hail and small wet snow flakes but turned to pure snow for a short while at the back end of the shower, amazing watching it swirl around in the strong wind, didn't settle at all though.

As nasty a days weather today as anytime over this winter.

Quite violent winds with a few trees down around here overnight and plenty of rain.

Then today more of the same with heavy sleet and hail showers throughout and bitter cold in the wind.

Hopefully a change of month will bring a change in weather but it's not looking hopeful, at least not until into the weekend.

After a wild, windy night we now have heavy, blustery snow showers. Slight covering on the grass, temp 3.1C.

Feels more like January than the last day of March!

Yes this time of year can easily produce the coldest feeling of days we see all year - when we see polar maritime/arctic maritime air and strong winds. Snow showers are often the order of the day, the rate of drop in temp with height is at its greatest at this time of year.

I've currently got a shower here with some wet snow mixed in with the hail. That means that I have seen falling snow, to some extent in December, January, February, March and now April too. When was the last time that happened?

Snow on the ground at midnight, but most melted during the night, still a covering on the tops.

The BBC forecasted a cold, cloudy day today, but it has been a lovely spring day. There has only been a bit of hazy-high cloud and the temperature has reached 13C, which is 5-6C higher than what was forecasted.

Spring came back today! A decent day overall with some good lengthy periods of sunshine and blue skies, but a nagging cool wind prevailed taking the edge off things, and it clouded over during the evening.

The fells had a good covering of snow first thing, down to around 600 metres, however, the sun quickly got to work on it, and there is only a general covering above about 750 metres.

Tomorrow looks a bit of a damp squib unfortunately, but we have the promise of much fine weather thereafter, usable type of weather, good for outdoor activities etc. It could be far worse outlook for Easter, we've had shockers in years gone by, but alas it doesn't look like being a particularly special one temperature wise, decent all the same.
