A downright miserable day here. At least this wet and windy rubbish is only a temporary blip before the nice weather returns next week.

Will do :)..

Rain not as heavy now and sky is a bit brighter so hopefully a bit of the day can be salvaged.

Chucking it down here, the wind has calmed down at least. No walkies for Meg until

later, otherwise her visit to the poodle parlour will be wasted, she's lying here sulking and smelling like a tart :D

Definite south easterly track and back edge showing on the radar.

At this rate another hour should see the clearance reach here, just in time for a trip out for a pub meal and couple of beers.

A different picture outside now, the clearance came through between 1 and 2 and its now brightening up with promise of some late afternoon sunshine. The fells are clad in snow down to about 500 metres.

Looking at the temperature charts I'm a bit worried about the dreaded NW/SE split rearing its ugly head next week - the worst weather pattern during the warmer months in my opinion.

Give me an April 2003 heatwave any day.

Looking at the models this morning I would disagree to a certain degree.

Yes the highest temperatures look reserved for the SE with a 25c quite possible

for our part of the country it will feel pleasant enough with some warm spring afternoons

Temperatures like last week getting into the high teens, still cool overnight though as this morning

proved, had to defrost the car at 0600 this morning.

Yes, unfortunately it looks like the dreaded NW-SE split is making an appearance later this week. It reminds me of the awful month that was July 2010, where the SE was basked in 30C heat, while all we got was boring westerly nothingness.
