The storms are a nice start to the summer but this humid feel is very unwelcome.

Bring back yesterday.

Seems strange, its nice and cool the thunderstorms come and its sticky as hell.

Looking at the radar, there is a band of patchy rain stretching from Southampton up to the Wash, I think this is the dividing line where anywhere east could see some further thunderstorms. So it will be a case of when this line transfers east and introduces more stable air.

Another rumble of thunder heard here as the showers which crossed the city ignite as they push north east.

Agreed - it does appear to mark what might be referred-to by our storm-chase tour leaders as a dry line (sort of?)  Anyway it's been a bit of a damp squib here - Dad woke up around 7.30 and heard a storm pass in the distance, and we had a weak storm pass to our west once I was awake later-on.  From NW radar, it appears that the most vigorous storms followed two distinct paths - one through the west of the region, heading-up through west Norfolk, and the other (yours, Matt, and the one that "cloudsabove" saw) moved up the North Sea coast after affecting Sussex and the Thames Estuary.

This would be the same cell as 'Clouds Above' photographed. The structure is obviously the same.

Tracking through the radar sequence, it formed near Crawley at 5:00, tracked along the M25, over Dartford, went east of Chelmsford, North of Colchester and Ipswich and finally lost its identity somewhere near Beccles at 8:00. Almost constant constant thunder heard, from what was mostly intracloud lightning. Another storm formed soon afterwards and had a similarly long track, but went slightly east of this.

No storms for me here (thank god) and although I haven't been outside today, it feels slot cooler than it did at 6:30!

That Western band is getting rather more lively as it's moving into the more unstable air - might yet be something on the way?

Um..Cells must have exploded near my location?? As I can hear thunder every 10-15 seconds all of a sudden, Nothing on radar (yet) Which means it's gone from nothing to a strong storm within 10 minutes :)

Radar is stuck at 11:30. Deep booming thunder!

Big crash just now, but still dry

Edit: About a minute of heavy rain with big droplets. Amazing how quickly the cell developed. Nothing but a small blue blob offshore; 10 minutes later and 12 miles inland it's turned into something much more thundery. Power went off, of course.

My little bit of sun has turned to cruddy crud and more crud and now it's spitting.

Even feels cooler  in the breeze as well.

Looks like the day after a nights storm, but Mother nature face rolled me ;/

Feels humid in East London, with a warm breeze. The little outdoor thermometer reads 26.

Well parts of Kent have already hit 27C according to the metoffice. 25C here with a streak of clear sky which I seem to be stuck under. The humidity is ridiculous out there.

I've had that open since 10pm last night, but thanks anyway!

The line of storms almost formed over me and is now sliding away. A nice deep rumbling can still be heard fairly often, though. Really hoping something could form to our west.

Is everyone else round here getting a greenfly plague over the last few days.
In the last half hour they are out in force, millions of them.

It can happen, CM: sometime back in the late '60s, MK was a cold and wet 15C; Kent, meanwhile, was a steamy 30.5C. :)

I don't think this rather marginal feature has been a let down at all. Storm fans in Kent, Essex and East Suffolk have had a superb treat today.

Everytime there's a sniff of storms posters on here talk-up their chances and then throw their toys out of the pram when it doesn't happen.

I was close to posting a word of warning yesterday when I saw talk of all nighters in the areas where storms were unlikely.

I checked the BBC forecast last night and there was a "chance" of an elevated storm in the south and east and more breaking out in the far SE and EA during the afternoon. If anything what came to pass was in excess of what was forecast.

This is the UK where moderate weather rules. If you want 4 foot snow drifts and supercells every year, either move to another country or stop wishing for the highly unlikely from our own weather.
