.....so much for the torrent - it's brightening up here all the ppn going up the Irish sea and the IOM.

Is there another event later? as I see the Lightning Map pinging a few darts on the channel.

On another note the Summer was a washout as predicted by some due to the El Nino

also  that after 2010 Nino it was of course a legendary  harsh winter.

According to the precipitation forecasts there should be showers breaking out the pennines by now.

Unfortunately, it is very underwhelming so far and this is the view to my east right now.

Hardly any convection to speak of.

Showers are starting to break out over the Midlands now!

They should move towards the Pennines pretty quickly.

Some convection is beginning here

Can just about see that from where I am. We aren't doing bad actually, considering it was cloudy up until gone 13:30. There's hope for something yet!

Stormy looking sky to my south but sunny here.

24c and feeling humid but certainly a much better days weather than we were looking at yesterday.

Just need a good evening storm now to complete a decent days weather.

After a very warm muggy day, the clouds look they are building the south east and storms are breaking out http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/index.php?lang=en&page_0=12  could be interesting if they make it over the western side of the peak district/pennine area.

They need to shift westwards because everything is heading north and other than some activity north of Bristol, there seems little else showing to our south.

Hopefully things will pep up for us.

Yep so frustrating within spitin' distance - I could drive over the tops because I think there will be fun and games there soon, from another batch coming up from the south but I'll just sit and hope we get a glancing blow on it's western flank.

Can see the huge cumulonimbi over the Pennines. It's a pity it's not dark would make an interesting spectacle.

Get the feeling we are going to miss out....again.

You think?

There's quite a lot of towering cumulus already.

It's getting closer. Two hours to sunset.

I hope they arrive about that time. The setting sun illuminating the anvils of thunderclouds orange and red can be absolutely breathtaking. :)

The cells look very sporadic to our south and southeast.

I think we will see the emphasis moving to the west in the next couple of hours with Wales getting the best action.

We caught the edge of a shower here about 6pm, enough to sent the wife scarpering for the washing but not enough to water the plants.

Other than that and a shower around lunchtime, it's been a dry day......so far.
