Raw easterly, cloud will take time to break today, if it does, feels like November!

I was outside working in Trowbridge from 07.00 and to begin with it was clear, which filled me with hope of another stunning day, then it turned foggy which I wasn't too worried about because I thought it would burn off quickly. However far from burning off it lifted into the Stratocumulus which has dominated since, although back in Warminster the sun is beginning to burn through along with quite a keen Easterly breeze off Salisbury Plain.

This is where the BBC do fall down. They show the latest satellite image which shows cloud all the way down to within 30 miles of the south coast.

They then show the immediate forecast for the next hour, so which shows crystal clear skies away from the east coast. It's cleary nonsense, but it still gets broadcast.

Anyway, the cloud is burning off nicely now and we get an Alexis bonus on the lunchtime news. Happy days :)

Disappointingly overcast for much of the morning, only odd glimpses of blue and a strong (good for drying washing) breeze, feeling none too warm.

Nice day after a foggy start.

We should enjoy it while it lasts as it looks damp for us westerners after friday..

Indeed   it feels like the last nice week of summer.

Quite looking forward to what Winter 2015/16 has in store for us now the seasons are changing, although having said that I do enjoy the misty starts especially if I can get above the mist.

I was surprised at the extent of the fog and low cloud this morning and it took until nearly 10.00 to burn off. However a glorious, warm and clear day now with a brisk SE wind.

Another foggy start this morning on high ground which quickly burnt off and has been rather pleasant since, although there seems to be more and more high level cloud moving in now associated with this weather front that is approaching..

Surprisingly vile morning with blustery showery rain and drizzle with brief sunny spells and a gusty WSW wind. A lot of showers affecting the Bristol Channel and Mendip areas.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
