Foggy start again with a min of 3.6C, now clouded over. Yesterday was hazy with the sky only properly blue if you looked upwards, weak sun, and limited visibility.. so the high had become quite dirty really.

Time for a different form of interest and a new airmass to refresh things.

Frequent showery rain/drizzle all day so far but nothing particularly heavy. Noticeably muggy at 17.3c and 96% humidity. Bring back the chilly starts and clear blue sky warm sunny days lol !

I think you may find some big cells starting to move your way. Unfortunately, as per usual I get none of these! lol

They're nothing particularly interesting, just going to bring some heavy rain. I would be more intrigued if we'd had any warm sunshine to fuel the atmosphere.

Bit of a shock this morning upon leaving the house, damp and mild, I had sort of got used to chilly and foggy starts.

Mostly cloudy, showers around. 1.4mm of rain today.

It's odd, yesterday and today virtually all showers/downpours heavy enough to be of any interest are going east of here, sometimes by literally a mile or so.. It's as if there's some topographic feature to the south controlling where they form and their track, rather than just flat sea surface..

The few showers coming this way tend to be the ones that weaken/die.

A very disturbed morning with heavy showers and downpours developing from the South coast and spreading quickly North across this area, some sunshine too. The sort of conditions where getting caught out in a 5 minute downpour soaks you (me!!) to the skin, causes a lot of surface water then clears to warm sunshine.

15.8c now after a recent downpour, however half an hour ago it was 17.9c .

Absolutely heaving it down in Aztec West now, could see it coming over darker and darker with a pronounced front to it. Now just need some thunder.

LOW centre must be right over E.Somerset and W/SW Wiltshire right now judging by radar shower movements going anticlockwise around in a circle with quite an obvious gap between Warminster-Shepton Mallet (East-West of circle diameter) and Wincanton-Bath (South to North of circle diameter).

Looks like some torrential downpours are heading my way though I'll bet £50 that they die out before hitting me!

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
