Looks like some torrential downpours are heading my way though I'll bet £50 that they die out before hitting me!

Might have to take you up on that offer :D

Well, another winter just around the corner, can feel the excitement starting to build. Probably another green, wet and windy one for us in the extreme south but finger's crossed hey. Hope knocker's Daf's take a pounding, not like there isn't enough of them anyway.

Carol Kirkwood said on her 06.15 g=forecast this morning that the Northern Lights had been seen from Somerset last night, did anyone on here see anything? I did have a look out at 22.00 but it was quite cloudy.

Nope. I went out at 11pm and whilst the sky was clear as a bell, the bright(ish) lights of Salisbury sit on my Northern horizon, so we never really stand a chance down here.

Anyway, after spending most mornings this week getting soaked, today was a cracker.

I heard her say that too, but I have not seen any evidence. I wonder if it was a mistake (or a mis-hearing). If they were seen from Somerset then surely Wales too (given enough chance with cloud etc)?

What happened to the sun?  It's been peeping through a veil of cloud on and off all day, looks like what we get when there's a system coming in from the SW.  Wind's a tad on the nippy side too.

I am presuming there's a lot of high cloud spilling off from ex Joaquin.

Well that wasn't too bad a day, as Lyn says above pretty much cloudy all day, but nice temps I have been out in the garden most of the day I even eat my lunch out there.

Having seen a forecast this evening, it would seem that Andy's comment about ex hurricane Joaquin's cloud is correct.  I knew we wouldn't get away without some effect from it!

Overhead cloud cover with a light N.Easterly breeze. 10.9c. Humidity being 92%rh gives the breeze a cool feel.
