Morning peeps and a Happy new year....amazingly got down to 0.9C last night and a slight frost......just looked in the model output thread and boy is it doom and gloom in there.....it seems like this winter cold and snow wise is never going to get going.....lots more wind and rain and a never ending Atlantic push. This has got winter 2013/14 written all over it.

Would love to see a snowfest tho....

6c here with an Easterly blowing.

Feels like coldest day of Winter, so far.

Looking at model output seems like our neck of woods could be in for a repeat of Jan14.

Cold and dry to start with,  rain and wind soon crept in.
It got down to 1°C on my 4.5m station, and down to 0.6°C on my 1.5m fan-aspirated station- likely to be more accurate.

Still raining here after what can only described as a lousy wet and windy day.

Are you under the warning down there knocks?

After a small break, the rain has returned here. It feels pretty nasty in that cold SE wind today as well..

Yes we are under a yellow but it's not that obvious from the METO website.

Today's 8.3c max was the first single figure max since 28th November. Progress towards something more seasonal, but ultimately just colder rain than we've been used to thanks to the ESE wind!

En route to Penzance from Oxfordshire. Now in Taunton. Weather has been varying degrees of wet from mist to heavy showers. Not greatest driving conditions so this could be a long journey .

What a gross start to the New Year, although cooler, still quite a bit milder than average. I had almost forgotten what winter was like before I went out to my car at 3am yesterday morning and all the rain from the 31st had frozen on it.

10C with drizzle - November weather.

Just giving all South Westers the heads up on a potentially potent storm coming our way next Monday.  The chart was posted by 'man with beard' on the mod discussion page 14.  Looks really nasty.

He did come back to me and said that it was only one chart but really needs to be kept an eye on.  No one else has commented because all they are looking for is "SNOW" .

I wouldn't worry too much at this stage.

The 12Z has removed it (for now)

It's nothing more than a rain-fest on the chart above. The consensus is for an unsettled regime though..
