Interesting, so a more hyped up version of last winter?

I will be first to be impressed if you are correct but I would be far too scared to make a prediction like that this early on!

Fair play to you, it's through making predictions and then observing that science works.

(..and if you do have the lottery numbers I would be grateful! ;):D )

I would say more like winter 13/14, as those style winters look like becoming more frequent, may end up milder than that 'winter' due to the warmth this Dec, post by radiohead in model thread is what I'm thinking

you can slag me off etc if wrong, i'd love it if I am

Yet another day where very mild air arrives late in the day to give a high maximum after a relatively chilly start ( relative to what's gone before during  this month at least)

The mean daily range in temperature could end up as highest on record in December here due to the number of mornings with the minimum temperature occurring around 0900 ( and therefore applying to two days)  coupled with the number of days where the maximum has occurred overnight or the next morning.

The mean minimum for the 24 hour period 0900-0900 is running 1.0c lower than the mean overnight minimum ( from 1800 to 0900)

Wind picking up here now, not a lot of rain though, next week we will see temps back to average then after that no one knows. One thing for sure is the Polar Vortex is under real pressure and late Jan into Feb will be interesting we just need that bit of luck.

Strong winds all this morning. Rain started at 11:30.

Temperature of 10.5C at 09:00 now dropped to 8.5C.

Wind also slackened now after a very wet driving rain lunchtime.

No Ian - winter is lurking not too far away!

Today was windy! A 58mph gust recorded nearby at around 10am. Wind managed to cause some minor damage to our house.

No thunder or lightning here how ever we did had a very heavy rain shower about 15-20mins ago with gusty winds. By the looks of things chances of few rumbles later on today too with heavy showers.

No thunder (come on we hardly ever get it in summer!) but it was crystal clear at 9am. Still we can't get a wholly sunny day however, by 12 it had reverted to the same depressing grey muck we have endured all month. And that wretched wind is picking up again, 2015 just has to go out with typical 2015 weather! 10C, wind and cloud.

Wettest 24hr period so far this winter at an inch exactly.
