My parents in Hailsham are reporting some thunder and wondering whether it's anything to do with a rumoured Spanish plume...

AFAIK it is a form of Spanish Plume - can anyone more knowlegeable advise whether this is true?

I'm very impressed by that discrete cell to my east numerous bolts of CG lightning and purple! A terrific start to April and the season one hopes - it would not be out of place in mid summer.

The difference being this time that there isn't much warm air to tap into from Spain. In fact Madrid hovered around 11-12C today with westerly winds. I think this is warmth more from a southeasterly direction.

Nothing here apart from 5 minutes of rain. No thunder but the skies looked ominous for a while. Maybe more luck tomorrow :)

Plenty of horizontal fork lightning from a south-westerly direction, but strangely, no thunder! Either that or it's very faint.
