How come the met office forecast for 'a dry evening with a few coastal showers' was so off the mark. Imagine if temps/dps were a few degrees lower there would have been chaos.

Quite a few stations in the East recording an ice day today, and for many the coldest December day since 2012. Here it crept up to 1.3C despite lingering fog, but now (at 21.00) is down to -0.5C.

The showers came from the south coast and moved slowly up, now seem to be pivoting around the Thames area. So some still moving north in the east, while others moving south in the west. What I see, but could be reading it wrong. Movement is so slow. Must be a small low about. That's why the dp is up in the south though.

Another day another shade of grey to contemplate!! I note a ‘touch of the glums’ has settled upon the MOD thread, maybe some more favourable cold weather forecast data churned out by a machine with no consciousness or sense of some people’s need for sparkly cold snow, will emerge later today! It’s a strange thing trying to predict the future but great to see how the use of metrological science can explain the ‘how’ but never answer the ‘why’, especially the why we care so much about ‘the weather’...

Right musings over, have a good day one and all. ❄️ ⛄️

Still eight slightly foggy, or cloudy with a mist, haven't been out to look properly yet, and cold.

The grey has legged it for the time being! The view from my back bedroom temporary office, blue sky back with vengeance!

Another bitterly cold day here in the Hadleigh 'hole' with the fog thinning into misty conditions and a max temp of only 1.1C.
I went for a stroll earlier and was admiring the skill involved in the multitude of spiders webs revealed by the fog. Except for one web where I suspect the spider had been drinking.

Good effort: Web1.thumb.jpg.32da87e05f67d4e31640f5b91cf8780f.jpg Must try harder: Web2.thumb.jpg.c1c2c2051c5997fcac7db60adb0eafa1.jpg

Still struggling to break 0C here, as have the past couple of days. Judging by the weather station reports, West Norfolk is the coldest spot in the UK outside the Scottish Highlands.

Lovely crisp afternoon here, air drying out.

Current temp 2.9c

A slam dunk sub zero night here as long as the fog doesnt scupper my chances.

Been out cutting the rear ferns - they were out of control as compared with the one on the right. Its taken hours out there.

Ive trashed my grass as well

Finally have some freezing fog tonight, plus frost so far. Let's see if it's still there in the morning.

Hit a maximum of 4.2 in Locksbottom so pretty chilly but unlike yesterday that was dull all day and a maximum of 2.3 the sun came out about 11.30 so felt quite pleasant until about 3pm.Currently 2 degrees and looks like some rain on the way overnight that should hopefully clear by first light tomorrow.Forecast a high of 6 tomorrow so will feel tropical compared to last 5 days!

Yep just spotted all that rain, still clear foggy and frosty here, but with the wind slightly west south west, I don't think it'll be snow, falling once it gets here. Guess we will see.
