The mercury peaked around 1pm at 33c here on the northern end of Ynys Mon just before skies clouded over off the Irish Sea , . mercury dropped to 30c for a while . skies clearing from the Sw again now and temps are on the up again , bizarrely the dop radar had bright echoes over here , you could see the rain exiting the cloud base , but evaporating on its transition groundward.

My personal max recorded temp (Davis Vantage Pro) was back in the summer of 2003 , peaking at 34.6c  ,,,  expecting 35c here towards late afternoon, subject to the skies clearing again to hot sunshine

Edit:   1500hrs .. Mercury just touched 35c , a very dry heat though ,   nothing compared to June 2019 driving west on the A8 South of France, stopped off for a lunch break just 8 miles from one of the towns that recorded France's national highest recorded temp of 45.9 c ,  getting out of the aircon'd car into the peak heat of the day was analogous from getting out of a fridge and getting into an oven

Great day for hanging the washing out .. lol .. bone dry in 30 mins 🙂

When rain falls from a cloud but doesn't reach the ground it can create wispy tails from clouds known as virga.

Watching out for those storms over Cornwall myself. Personally I'm a storm hater because of my sensitivity to loud noise and flashing lights but at least it looks like it'll be firmly in the day here and will do a very solid cooling job?

Was absolutely surreal to walk outside topless at midnight thinking it was actually, genuinely comfortable. In this country!

Here’s the forecast surface temperature map from the UKMO for 2:00pm covering Wales.  Quite surprising how the steepest temperature gradient seems to follow the Wales / England border quite closely!  Also note there is almost a 10 degree C difference between parts of the south coast and the north coast - you won’t see that very often!

Outside thermometer is reading 27.5C in deep shade with a light (very light!) breeze.  At 08:40…..

A tiny amount of rain is forecast to fall in most parts of Wales over the next 24 hours.  This is the most amount I can find which is forecast by the UKMO:

Other models are showing much less than this and some areas may stay completely dry.  Also depends on whether you catch a thunderstorm which may appear almost anywhere over the next 24 hours.   An area of thundery rain is currently showing on the radar over North Devon heading north towards Carmarthenshire….

Hello all,

Just arrived at this forum after 4 years of lurching. Didn't go below 21.5C in the night here in Dyffryn Nantlle and reached 31.5C in the last hour. May well have peaked as high cloud now making sunshine hazy. Keep yourselves (and your pets) safe and hydrated.

Welcome!   Good to hear from you especially as you can stop lurching now!   🤔

It’s clouding over rapidly from the south west here and the sun is disappearing.  No sign of rain yet but you never know…..

Just had a short sharp shower which lasted about 5 minutes, and there is distant thunder somewhere to the west.  Radar showing showers over the coast near Pembroke and more rain might make its way here later, I think.

Raining again here.  Quite heavy but not torrential.  Garden is loving it!   Luckily the chap got his tractor going at about 5:15 this morning and finished all the silage cutting before the rain started.  Will now need to it dry out before baling it though.

Whatever activity there was on that front has now passed away to the north of me and the sun is coming out again.  And the temperature’s going up.     Again….  🥵🥵

Thanks for the welcome Sky Full! Narrow band of thundery rain now approaching from the Lleyn, we'll have to wait and see how much, if any,  will reach he ground. Could do with a good soaking for the garden or else it's another evening spent with hosepipe & watering can.

Back to clear blue skies and hot sun here after a brief shower and clap of thunder. Didn’t even wet the ground!

Well, the radar showed rain bearing  weatherfront waving near us, but it was obviously waving from a fast moving car as not a drop landed.  It’s now very very humid but slightly ‘cooler’ at 29, down from 32.

Same here, just a few drops evaporating on impact, then sunny again and temp up to 29 C. I know how i will be spending my evening.

A fresher feel this morning but no rain so it’ll be back out watering this morning.

Oppressive, humid 28C max yesterday with no wind to speak of…..  refreshing, breezy 22C max today.  Just 6C in it over 24 hours but a whole world of difference in the feel of the day.  You can never underestimate the variability of the British weather.
