That's boring

Just continuous drizzle in Stockport town centre.

Now some heavier stuff has reached here it’s actually turned to sleet with wet flakes in it. Sticking above 350m

Is it better for it to be raining and 3 degrees as now, or raining and 10 degrees?

The latter. Snow is the compensation for cold weather.

Pity this band didnt have a little more about it. Snowflakes have readily fallen in light to moderate rain. Temp at 1.7c and barely risen in 4 hours and I'm sure if there'd been some more organised heavier stuff we'd have had a decent bit of snow. Onto Thursdays potential.

Its 5 days away, looks pretty but will it get watered-down like today?

So the MOD thread says no?

I prefer the nowcast and usually don't look too far ahead  - yes ensembles are on the up after this weekend but maybe the Sunday next has potential? - temps going only one way again.

Just read the warnings for Thursday.  I'm in the Rain one but the Snow one is no more than 5 miles to my North.

Going to be Nowcast if that front backs South West by 30 to 40 miles.

Sleety snow very wet, power of evaporative cooling, some heavier precipitation has hit, but temps just too mild. Another chance of more than a cm or two gone..lost count how many times missed out on something more substantive so far this season, probably about 7 now..

They mention above 200m. I can imagine the M62 is going to get a pasting then.
