The evidence over the last few years would suggest it is. Since Dec 2010, we had the 2013 falls which did produce some cover, and Feb 2018 which lasted until late afternoon. Other than that,  it's been a dusting at most, if we're lucky; no real cover at all.

I think it's been made more difficult with the fact there have been a few falls pretty near by, but it does not beat snow outside your own home. The overall pattern has looked so much better than usual without really delivering, we still have until mid-march and I still believe it will happen this Winter.

You're a blue aren't you? At least that's going great this year! COYB!

Same here, also toffee.   City fans have been really good on the whole with the new found wealth, they know and recognise how lucky they have been with rich owners almost apologetic at times, not entitled like Chelsea fans.

I'm a dirty immigrant from the other side of the country, and a Newcastle fan (least I'm not from Yorkshire). A relief that they don't get brought up much in this thread though... looking forward to another defeat tonight, hopefully enough to get the Donald Trump of football sacked. Circling this back to the conversation of weather, there's a slight chance of snow falling on pitch during that match, could be the most interesting thing about it....

Got the dreaded cold rain here at the minute though, but at least something is falling from the sky.

High ground only for snow.

I’m in the white bit where the two warning areas don’t quite meet so it looks like several hours of no for me

Yup, I did a reverse Shearer

Always found it a tad odd Blackburn bothered to name a road after him round here, and we settled for the statue. He might get a stand named after him one day though, either if we move stadiums (highly unlikely) or he carks it - tbh I'd advocate renaming East or Leazes after him.

Yes - Sunday looks good for a battleground   -  depends how fast the front pushes through for stall factor  - temps still well on the cold side we still have lying snow around here so the cold is "in place" as they say.

Interesting but hopefully no downgrading.

I've got relatives who live in Saddleworth. Part of Greater Manchester nowadays, but used to be in Yorkshire years ago, something I think they still insist to this day. As a result, they always used to say they were from near Huddersfield, not Manchester, even though Manchester is closer. You can imagine what I used to say to wind them up!

Yeah it's a funny place Oldham because as you say Saddleworth historically comes under the west riding and the vast majority of people there still insist it. There's a sign on the left side of the road just as you enter Springhead from Lees that says this. Haha

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
