Light rain in Slapton this morning. Hoping for a storm or two later but got a feeling we'll miss out again.

Just overcast and cool this morning. Doesn’t look or feel thundery at all. Good for freshening the house up though…

Just white sky and persistent very light rain now. Yawn...

Drizzle here. But I think it could be a day of two halves. If the sun breaks through later behind this crud then there is plenty of atmospheric scope for some 'proper' weather.

Been cloudy with on/off light rainfall for most of the day here, not what I was personally expecting.  The garden appreciated it though, even if amounts were negligible.

Just started brightening up now with pockets of sun appearing.  Hoping it's not too late in the day for a bit of surface heating and rapid cell development.

Speaking of rapid cell development, a decent cell has quickly developed over Bridport with sferics.  It's clear that behind this cloudy crud, there is decent instability, it's just a case of a race against time.

I'll give it a few more hours before sulking yet, but I do feel a sulk coming on.  😁

Tentative signs of a convergence line starting to develop, which might provide some interest to those in the Mendips, Wiltshire and possibly Bristol/Glos areas later in the afternoon;

Something to watch anyway, very unpredictable condition out there currently.

I've literally just had this develop directly overhead in the last 10 minutes;

Now producing large raindrops.  What's the bet as it moves of North it turns into a biblical storm?!  🙄

Well that was a shock to the system, torrential rain for a while this morning, proper showery and I got a bullseye from one small cell, it peaked at over 90mm/hour at 11:20 according to NW radar! Anyway, the net result today is about 12mm of rainfall so far.

I say "about" as that's from a quiick look at my manual check gauge. Because... the VP2 shows precisely zero! It was all spidered up, cobwebs galore around the tipping buckets arrghhh. Physically check your rain gauges folks!

So now I need to work out how to fiddle correct my Wundergound data for the day, which cannot be edited there. That's a lot of manual tips I'll have to  do today lol.

Under it at work in Ashton - no thunder of lightning. And the stuff further south has lost any electrical activity.

Down in Exeter and hoping to go to Exmouth later , looks like a lot of showers though.

Will have to wait and see whether I can have a paddle.

I've checked the manual gauge properly now and it's 12.2 mm today then,  and I've completed my 61 manual bucket-tips after catching the spider and removing its evil web. VP2 and Wunderground now show the correct daily total albeit at the wrong times! The world is back in order. 🙂

Any rain we've had today here wont have made any difference to water levels; our garden's looking as parched, dried and cracked as it's been last couple of weeks.

In fact, the rain and lack of electrical activity has been pathetic, considering the heat of last couple of weeks.

Sudden, heavy rain here now.  First proper, continuous heavy rain so far.

Actually have puddles outside.  I can't remember the last time I saw a puddle!  😂

EDIT - Thunder now heard.

Heard thunder not long ago. Very dark just to my east but bone dry for now.

Plenty of new sferics south of Bristol towards the Mendips now.

Very heavy rain here, infrequent rumbles of thunder.  The garden is loving it!

Need to move just a bit further west and stop weakening on the front edge.

In the grand scheme of things, it's just a heavy, thundery rain shower, not what I would classify as a storm, so you're not really missing much.

It's more a demonstration of how quiet the convective season has been this summer and lack of rainfall that makes it that little bit more "entertaining".  For once, I don't have to water the flowers.

Oh sure... it would just be nice to have more than ten small raindrops given the potential haha.

Water.  We have water.  Roads are temporarily turning to streams;

A few downpours over Warminster this afternoon, they have developed pretty quickly then moved away W/NW. One distant rumble of thunder.
