Dear friends of mine who live in Southampton just sent me a video - lightning is far more frequent than the detectors suggest

Nothing to write home about REALLY but I can’t complain - I’ve had more lightning here in the last 3-4 days of May than I did for the whole of last year.

Distant lightning seen here in Leicester...

How frequent is the lightning?  Might have to check the skies soon incase it's elevated from storms miles away. Once remember seeing lightning from a storm a good 70 miles away before

One flash per 30 seconds/minute at the moment.

Gatwick airport is still sending out flights so my guess is they're trying to get as many as they can out ASAP before the storm hits

bet the keepers on the lighthouses (ones that are still manned) facing south are watching this, esp the ones on watch

Really dont want to be in the gap between the southamton storm to the west (if it is still going) and the channel storms to the east....

Big flash towards Lutterworth and decent rumble, lots of soggy sounding thunder from other areas
