Beka in Winchester cannot be complaining now surely - this is one of the best displays I’ve ever seen

It wasn't noisey enough LOL! Actually it was just good as it didn't wake one kid but stopped the other one sleeping! But didn't last too long to keep her up half the night. So yes it was gooooooooood!! I was stood out in the street watching it!

Hi all I’m in Rickmansworth high up, fab view looking north, fork and sheet lightning and loud thunder, I did think it was going to miss us as it usually does here

Ah, it's starting to look like Area 51 will have a nice display, it  looks like it's all moving too far east for anything but coastal regions of Suffolk.

To the north of London it seems to be on a more northerly track.

Oh well, I may yet be shocked and stunned (there's still June, July and August to claim my distant rumble of thunder...)

So what are we calling this event for the next few years - the 18th May 2022 event?

I know fuel prices are high but that is a bit extreme

Well lightning did strike twice here!

Very different from Sunday's storm. Sunday had far fewer strikes, but when they came they were huge. This evening, strikes much more frequent, but seemed elevated with not too much thunder.

Yes that's exactly it. Very very high up. A proper electrical quiet storm really! I didn't see any CG's at all. All IC

There really wasn't much to it apart from a few infrequent strikes. Best described now as 'thundery rain' imo.

Seeing distant flashes. Worrying that cell South of London is calming down.

Something might have happened with the lightning, a fire engine and ambulance just came past.

This was probably of the most eventful storms I’ve seen in a while. The lightening, about 15 mins ago, was persistent with sky crawlers and intense rain pulses, lots of localised flooding  here in Brighton.

More of this, please.

Just had a huge multiple return stroke IC flash - few seconds of scattered crackling followed by a more distant BOOM!
