Nice to see that flotsam on show, which I anticipate will migrate into our skies

They certainly remained low last evening. Or has the urban smut level visibly heightened

I `m not talking about the short term effect, where the last couple of years covid affected emissions, visibly decreased the height of the smut level.

but now we are back to normal

I was pleased to see they can be detected through the smut level ( not visible to the naked eye but via the lens )

This could have been predicted by the solid mass of clouds seen at 70° latitude, at noon, on the 2 day out daisy

As for the 'Flotsam from Flensburg'. My guess is that they arrived in an unfavourable twilight glow, in which to show their beauty

Thought I'd share this time-lapse from Chorley in Lancashire of the shortest night of the year. It has a great view of the horizon showing the twilight lasting all night with the added bonus of NLCs.

Great watch, thanks for sharing! I love seeing how close we are to 24 hour sunlight at this (the best) time of year, and the NLCs are a nice bonus!

Beautiful evening... smut playing tricks or is something developing to our north?

I'm picking up something very faint on my camera, but I'm not 100% sure if it is NLCs

I'm not going out tonight, just a taking a couple of shots from the garden, so it will probably end up being a decent show

I really didn`t want to do this tonight, because of a possible Nigh shift trying to detect something considerably rarer than NLC`s around these parts

nothing showing yet on camera`s but certainly a chance

A thin fait line across the N it took long exposure and a zoom lens to catch them.

I`ll be waiting for the 2nd half to see if they reappear

edit. they have just re appeared just to the W of N
