really cold week this week coming up -35c at night -30c by day.. going to be a real struggle coupled with the levels of darkness at this time of year..so a double whammy of joylessness

I'm getting all excited by the GFS 06z. Fri 6th Jan has a breeze coming up directly from North Africa. Fingers crossed.

Yes. All you can hope for in the bleak mid winter is loads of SW winds and maybe a temp of about 11c or 12c if lucky. The Atlantic. The Vest From The West !

🙂 8 and a bit weeks till Spring. Counting down each weekend from now on. Gone is the gloom. The light starts to return. The sun gets stronger. Snowdrops. Catkins. Daffodils. Bring it on.

I suppose what it means by 'cold'. In winter   whether it is minus 3 or plus 11c . To me it is cold and i am counting it down to March. At least in March the nights are drawing out . At the end it is light until 8pm . Long way to go  but at least December is on the way.

Looks like the mild wet and windy is to continue for the foreseeable.  I actually don't mind a cold intervention late Jan in to Feb because spring is just around the corner by then and the days are getting longer. I am not quite as fed up as I usually am in November/December/ early January !

Yes. I enjoyed the snow, but this spell has long outstayed it's welcome now. Was originally supposed to be gone by Friday 😠 and it's still going to be cold on Monday. Ready for some nice mild south Westerlys, but it looks like I'm out of luck!

I'm not really a cold hater, but I do hate pointless cold with no snow, or rain instead, line yesterday here. Very annoying. Got fog coming in now, but not even cold enough for a good frost tonight, or not yet anyway.

Indeed. A February of nighttime rain and daytime sunshine (and 20C every day) would do me fine... But, then again, so would a repeat of February 1979! 👍
