I still think FI is around 5 days away as the 0c isotherm doesn't fully leave the very far north of the region on the ecm and then pushes it back south again later on, yesterday or the day before it showed it being blasted further north. The cold to the north and east has been crazy. My genealogy friend in eastern Latvia says it hasn't been above zero there since the 13th November and no signs of it happening anytime soon.

Battlefront snow is as rare as hens teeth these days so we are relying more and more on shower streams to give us a decent amount of snow and, as yesterday showed in Cumbria; these are very much an all or nothing event with some getting a dumping while others down the road seeing a few flakes at best.

frustrating but our part of the world usually ends up feeding on scraps.

Fantastic! They are so lucky. Down at the Ribble estuary we have had nothing, been nice most of the week though (pic taken Thursday at Lytham) 😃👍

That’s the point though, a freak occurrence with others not many miles away seeing little or nothing.

the Irish seas equivalent of lake effect snow and similar to what the North Sea dumped on parts of South Yorkshire in November 2010

Bet a lake effect streamer like that doesn't affect Cumbria again even in the next 50 years 🤣. Couldn't believe what I was seeing

Did anyone witness the Fiddlers Ferry demolition?

Going to be a strange change in the skyline as those cooling towers could be seen for miles.

Watched the live stream heard the explosion from our house

Just won't be the same without looking for the towers.  Still got Jodrell Bank I suppose.

Saw it on the local news earlier but it looked very misty and certainly not the best day for watching something as unique as that.

your right about seeing them for miles, there are a couple of summits both within an hours walk of here where Fiddlers Ferry could be seen with, in perfect conditions, Liverpool to the right and the mountains of North Wales further in the distance.

0.5c here in Diggle @200m and we have wet snow that’s settling a little. We’re close to the Pennines ridge here so might get a bit more overnight.

Yes it was 😂 😂   The observatory and dish remain, proudly dominating views across the Cheshire Plain.  Ooh that rhymes.
