A bit of a breeze here this morning with high gusts peaking to 64mph in Buxton at 11am, windstorm 'Otto' was noticeable through the early morning hours but aside from a brief internet outage there hasn't been too much damage to report on.

The tail end of the month still looking interesting as far as I can see. Funny how it may arrive at close to the same time as the 2018 beast. As of now though this looks like a watered down version, cold for sure but not the delicious -15C uppers like we had back then. Still time for upgrades though.

I’m going to my mums in Somerset Wednesday to Sunday so it’s bound to snow here  🤣😂 ❄️ ⛄️

Making Korean Gochujang beef burgers for tea and homemade chunky chips…

Garden shed arriving and being constructed tomorrow  🥳 🙌🏻

might be a bit chilly for decorators next week doing exterior windows 🥶 🎨

Korean Gochujang beef burgers, with homemade pickled onions and pickled ginger, homemade thick cut fries and mango & pineapple salsa 💃

Heavy drizzly rain seems to have stopped… mild but not feeling warm today at all… pretty strong winds earlier… eased after mid morning…

It’s been a mild spell & a mild February so far for the NW with the spring bulbs pushing through here - a very mild early week (Cheshire could see 14c on Monday) then things turning colder from mid week whether it’s a return to average- slightly below average chilly weather with frosty nights or something much colder and a sting in winter’s tail into late Feb/ early March is yet to be seen.

One to watch for sure 👀

It’s easy to forget in the past year of extremes that it’s a year to the day Storm Eunice hit too no such wind storms this winter.

Well if this mornings BBC forecast had been an afternoon of increasingly heavy drizzle for our region then they could have done a lot of self praising and back slapping.

but they didn’t so it’s a pretty decent fail on the part of whoever does their forecasting.

just glad it was a day for indoor jobs and not outdoor plans.

Even the NASA model going for an easterly right at the end of the month. This model is usually pretty chaotic the further out you go but we seem to be getting consensus for an easterly flow of some kind with most of the models. Upper air temps not to be concerned about at present. They change more frequently than the actual pressure charts. Guaranteed to be different closer to the time 🙂

A rather unpleasant winter's day. Drizzle, light rain on and off throughout, low cloud at times, sometimes higher but then lowering quick in rain. Drab.

Overcast and breezy at times today. Mostly dry, but the odd spot of rain this afternoon, but not enough to even begin to wet the ground. Mild again, up to a max of 13.1C. Winds quite gusty out right now.

A better start to the day and at least it’s dry; just hope it doesn’t go downhill like yesterday.

Late February 1994 snowfalls, a good event and not particularly well forecast it had to be said. Third best February for snow here of the 1990s, most of the lying snow during the Februarys of the 1990s were 1991, 1994 and 1996, the rest of them were dire.

Started snowing here about 10pm of Tuesday 22nd February and went to bed expecting it to be raining when I got up next morning. Got a surprise when i woke up and found it still snowing with a good covering. It snowed up until mid afternoon when it suddenly stopped. It wasn't a decrease in intensity, it just stopped.

Remember this one and once again it’s nice to see a local slant on it.

Although the winters of the early to mid 90’s never quite reached the levels of the same part of the 80’s, there were some severe snow events and compared to the default setting of the last few years, they were like something from the last ice age.
