Yes they’ve just started again… were doing it before we left in October/November… was quite a lot of smoke though… guessing it’s quite damp up there…

cheers yes sore throat cough yesterday, head cold going through packets of tissues, probably go to chest as with my husband… bugs lasting quite a while… one we had when we first got to France lasted two weeks plus… Glad you’re better

 👌👍

They don't call it a frog in the throat for nothing😁

A very non-descript day, a blanket of cloud overhead, higher level than yesterday's gloom fest, but still thick with no brightness. Light winds, temps up to 7 degrees. Gosh this is very dull uninteresting weather. We have a band of rain on it way any minute now to liven things up.

After cloudfest yesterday, sun returned today.  Makes all the difference as you say.

Yeah it needs a good shake up now. I think for the most part it's been a boring winter really. Certainly cold at times which has added a bit of interest in an otherwise drab few months, but there's not been a lot of snow and no vigorous Atlantic storms either. What happened to those storms? We've been stuck in no man's land for the most part. I hope this is not the future otherwise I might find another hobby 😒

It is feeling a colder version of 16-17 which was equally devoid of much interest, often high pressure ruled the roost. Last winter was quite similiar in Dec and Jan, but Feb was very wild and wet.

Over the last 2 years we have experienced long periods of the same type of weather often upwards of 2 weeks, the ridge/trough pattern and changes in 24-48 hr time intervals notable by its absence, I think La Nina is having an affect with these very slow moving patterns, we are losing it now at long last, and our weather may well become more lively and varied..

Think the same things happening to New England ie the I-95 corridor as here this winter… pretty much devoid of snow but colder and warmer periods (minus the recent polar vortex record cold 48hrs blip on USA)… maybe winter will throw us a curve ball… don’t fancy a cold spring though… high pressure and sunny would be welcome though

Not quite so cold here this morning, temperature currently 1.4C. Another reasonable day coming up by the looks of it  and likely bright/sunny again. It's been a decent few days here.

Weather forecasts have been consistently wrong for the last 3 days.
Cloud has been forecast all day, instead we’ve had clear blue skies. Same as today. Lovely stuff. Cold at night though, had a frost every night this week so far.

No cold on the horizon, let’s keep it that way. Last thing we want is cool easterlies popping up in April, delaying plants and peoples doses of vitamin D intake.

We’re going to have a cold early spring I think.

It is rare to get a properly cold easterly in April due to the continent warming up. Almost all of the coldest April's historically speaking have come from a northerly source. Like 2021 for example. I'd be surprised if we get as cold this year, it'll be a tough month to beat as it was the coldest since 1989 or something like that. Had a few snow coverings here but in the sun it wasn't too bad as it's gaining a bit of strength by that point. I remember despite the chilly wind my coat was warm with the sun on it.

Another belter of a day today, dry and sunny, a high of 8.3C. Tomorrow looks rather more gloomy, but it's certainly been a decent few days.

Bacup 3 years ago today was a tad moist as Storm Ciara paid us a visit and took the Irwell to a level where it just overtopped the banks and filled the roads.

Rainfall totals didn’t quite reach the level of Boxing Day 2015 but here at least, flooding was probably worse and we certainly haven’t seen anything as bad since.

A nice day for a quick hike to Shutlingsloe before sunset, although it got a bit chilly on top where exposed to the NWly wind but nothing a few extra layers couldn't fix. Given the forecast (again) was going for 8/8 cloud-coverage all day it's fortunate we've seen any blue skies at all, incidentally did anyone catch the Military movement at around 4:20pm? I caught a short sight of what looked like a A400M or C17 flying low in the distance over Alderley Edge before disappearing towards Tittesworth Res.
