Waiting to be unleashed in March…and probably melting before it gets to the ground, I.e it will be cold and wet!

At least it won’t be mild 😂

Anyone remember heavy snow on 24th  February 2001? I was in Blackburn at Mill Hill getting picked up by a mate to go to a helter skelter event at bowlers absolutely chucking it down with snow and pretty deep around Blackburn?

Staying benign, mildish and arguably a bit boring for the forseeable. It's been a nice few days S Cheshire way however with a slight early hint of Spring thanks to the lighter evenings and brighter skies despite the frosty mornings. Personally can't get excited about the possibility of March cold though, 2018 although great was a bit of a one off. March 2013 was just cold, grey and snowless here. March 2006 brought a heavy wet snowfall though from memory - one of those early spring snowfalls that dump several inches overnight and melt by lunchtime the next day scenarios.

Your probably right as February 2001 was a pretty cold and snowy month at times.

It was right at the start of the foot and mouth epidemic and I remember news pictures showing the huge pits being dug on farmland covered in snow.

we had a long weekend in Edinburgh and we left home with a few inches of snow and couldn’t believe the depth of it around the borders region, in places several feet heigh at the sides of the road.

In Edinburgh there was just a white dusting but it was bitterly cold and the snow stayed around, even on the car roofs.

probably the coldest holiday I’ve ever had.

A dreary damp morning certainly a shock after yesterday’s sunshine, though it  fits the day as of to a funeral

Yet another day of a quick look at the ensembles: nope, no change there.

Not a bad start to the day and thankfully no ice to clear off the windscreen but it’s been downhill since and damp since lunchtime.

I would finish with, at least it’s been mild though but with wall to wall cloud, a breeze and a damp airmass it feels anything but mild.

Not as bad as driving rain but up there with the worst possible type of weather.

anyway at least it’s weekend and hopefully it’ll bring some usable conditions.

Its been nice to have some frosty mornings, but it was nice not to have to defrost the car this morning for a change. It's been a so-so day, dry, but mostly cloudy. A gloomy weekend coming up by the looks of it, but I doubt we'll see much in the way of the forecast drizzle in this area and will probably escape with mostly dry conditions. Could well be a different story in higher parts of the region though.

Another very overcast grey day with light rain/drizzle on and off, dank and dismal.. not expecting much in the way of brightness over the weekend, turning into a very dull first half to February.

No such problem 95 years later and another bright and calm start to the day. It looks as though this weather will last in the region until Wednesday or Thursday.

Aye I’ve been using the dry spell as an opportunity to do some checks and small repairs to the top of the dormer.

not overly warm for doing fiddly bits of sealing but at least it’s not blowing a gale so a couple of hours and then hopefully it will be cured enough to take a coat of bitumen paint.

if not then thankfully tomorrow is looking dry as well.

A better day than many so far this month, simply due to there being far less low level cloud, albeit it is cloudy, but higher level and there is more brightness in the air. Also a mild day, current temp 10 degrees and with little wind it is a very usable February Saturday - ideal for outdoor sports participants and watchers etc.

There is much more busyness in ths streets of Windermere today, tourists and day trippers, I think the start of half term for some, but most schools break up for the following week. The half term week of Feb always the marks a kick start to the New Year, after the doldrums of the past few weeks, its around now the year I feel starts in earnest after a sort of limbo hibernation state..

Interesting as it's been reasonably sunny here- around 30 hours so far. The last 2 days have been rather dull though. The difference in the weather between here and the Lake District is huge.

Another dull day today? Did we not supposed to see some clearance? Lol

Depends on the wind direction. The Welsh mountains can break up the greyness

Looks like the cloud is starting to break up a bit from the west now

Mildish, cloudy, fires still burning on the hills… hopefully sun makes an appearance later ☀️ 🤞

Cold/flu gone to chest, really hard breathing last couple of nights… decongestant seems to be working… feeling bit better… off to ⚽⚽⚽⚽

off to Ruchi for curry afterwards… made nice hot chilli 🌶️ yesterday… that might of helped boost the immune system 👍👌
