Still blowing old boots here , the wind has moderated somewhat from the F9+  through the wee small hours to mid morning , now just a gentle F6-F8 , and mostly cloudy, warmish nonetheless

& "Betty" is not done with us yet ,   as she fills north of Scotland , pauses for a while, giving the south a false sense of "yay summer is back" , before she (remnants) pointlessly tracks south east back over the UK,  on the run up to bank holiday weekend, and then to add insult to injury invites all her troughy mates to follow her to the UK (GFS and ECM Ops refer).... 10 week trough fest saga continues .. unabated

Sunny intervals , 23.4 C,  RH 75% and  pressure 1010 Mb and is rising .

The humidity isn't helping with my breathing and recovery,  feeling very poorly today :( .

You had me going last night Beka I was really worried for you until I realised you were messing around :-)

Yesterday's cloudy mess is long gone and it's another lovely afternoon albeit on the breezy side. Temperature sitting at around 22C.

Everything has dried up since the rain as well. Should stay dry until Thursday / Friday now, nothing as bad as July!

No sign of Storm Betty here in N. Wilts! She must have decided to skip this area of the country!

Her warm front have us a thunder storm here,  it otherwise, yep nothing, but it was always a west event wind wise.

Just opened the curtains to survey the climate conditions with trepidation being as we are now in to Saturday morning. Imagine my surprise when I see blue skies, sunny intervals and a breeze to move everything along. Most welcome !

Yep, perfect, a bit humid though.

Looking pretty grim for the end of august now.

Things that were forecast but didn’t come to pass:

A summer with repeated plumes and breakdowns

A ‘sandwich’ summer

I think I’ll stick to reading the tea leaves over LRF’s in future.

It's great isn't it? All those models saying we were in for some heat just disappear, but the cold forecasts may as well be 100% guaranteed.

Back in Czechia, a tad warm at 31°C, sunny and feeling like summer.

Not a bad day today - alternating clouds and sun, breezy but pleasant and currently 22 Celsius with a forecast top temp for today of 24 Celsius. A fairly standard mid August day.

What's everyone's thoughts on August 2023 so far on a scale of one to ten. I'm struggling to place it tbh

I would say around 6 out of 10 as it hasn't been anything to shout about, but still a big improvement over last month. A pretty average August I think.

Am glad you have had it average as it has been Sh(t3 here. Not only has no farmers made any hay in July but none has been made so far in August with nothing on the horizon either!

Turned into a perfect late summers day. Back from work early, relaxing in 24 degrees and a nice breeze.

Many areas having a fantastic late summers day, lovely breeze, great temps and plenty of gentle sunshine. Whats not to like?

Probably around 6/10 as well, it hasn't been anything interesting, but still a lot of useable days with sunshine, and a lot drier than July. Next few days look dry as well.

Been a lovely day, beer gardens full, park near by is busy, ice cream truck doing a lot of trade. You must be very very unlucky.

Rather warm here today with a max of 25.1C.

Its just a shame that the trend of the summer has continued with the main part of the day (10am-4pm) being mostly cloudy. This has happened on almost every occasion during July and August that it has started the day sunny. I'm guessing its due to convection/in-fill due to the air pressure being predominately low. Indeed, only 4 days have had an air pressure above 1020hPa since the Solstice (July's max was 1019.1hPa).
