That is much more like it! Up to 18C and in that early summer sunshine feeling glorious sheltered from the breeze.

Just more of the same old grim sheet we've endured since whenever! 🥶

Despite 6hrs of strong sunshine still only 18C, the North Sea air is well and truly wedged down at the surface!

Can see the official run of 20C’s ending today. Strange thing is the wind isn’t even as strong.

Mods, any chance we can lock this thread and all just use the summer chat? People are posting in both.

The energy from the North Sea seems very strong at times. I was observing the speed of the clouds moving in from the east, and it wasn’t anything too dissimilar to those raging southwesterlies we sometimes get in the winter months.

The record monthly sunshine for May is/was 329 hours on the island of Tiree.  Has this been broken this year?

What for Scotland?

Nowhere got near that this May.

P.S. Bournemouth recorded 340hrs in May 2020.

Does anyone know where @SunSean is, I was looking forward to seeing an update to his sunshine totals he was compiling?

Would love to hear the stats.. Shannon Airport has recorded 94.1 hours in last 7 days with many more counting..Could this June be historical.

Is this record for UK or Tiree? I believe a number of stations exceeded this total in 2020

Now that does surprise me, because I assumed Scotland would hold the UK record due to the fact it has more daylight for 6 months of the year.

I love this time of the year so much - I love the light early mornings with the birds singing and the sun shining.  I have no idea why people want it dark, dark, dark in the mornings!  I just wake up, love the sunshine and go to sleep again!

Didn't fall asleep until well after sunrise this morning, hate insomnia.

Not here, seems it my turn to have day of cloud, but I'm sure it will pass soon.

English record is 384hrs  I’m Eastbourne from July 1911.

Still not great given 450hrs is possible in the south and 525hrs ish in northern Scotland in June/July.

12.3 hrs a day is quite remarkable

Don’t think we are going to have to wait long for some proper widespread high 20s and possibly the first 30C of the year looking at this mornings model output.

Really a glorious early summer spell let’s hope we can keep this going!
