After tomorrow's rain, the next time according to the forecast, there will be rain next Tuesday. Another dry situation coming up. This Spring has been very warm. Temperatures back up this weekend with 20c. Not heatwaves but it's good enough here in Northern Europe.

Thunderstorms possible in Finland this evening and tomorrow afternoon. The warm air with moisture helps these storms to get alive. Temperatures well up to 25 degrees today before rain comes in with possible lightning.

Some thunderstorms already on the coastline in Western Sweden and around Denmark's sea as well.

It's raining in my area right now. No thunderstorms yet. However the possibility is high this evening to get the first thunderstorm in my area this year so far. Not cold, even in the rain temperatures are around 20 degrees.

I'm glad you loved it. And I mean come on, we are the happiest people in the world so of course we are all kind here. Tourists are always welcomed. I recommend to also come in the summer time. It's sometimes warmer in here than in the UK. Dry weather also can last for months, unlike the UK because of the Atlantic near by.

England average temperature for the year is 14C, in Finland it is 8.2C for the year 🙂

This week Finland's temperatures will drop that most of the days this week the max temperatures will be around 15 degrees. Only on Tuesday there will be near 20 degree temperatures, but this week in general will be cold. Raining as well. Lapland might even still get some snow!

Heatwave possible in Sweden next week. 32 degrees is possible. It might be the hottest place in Europe outside of Spain.

Some quick updates on Northern Europe: There were some thunderstorms in Norway today. That will continue there in the coming days. 30 degrees in Finland and Sweden on Friday. Some thunderstorms possible in Finland this Saturday. The exact location is uncertain as it was supposed to come to Southern Finland, but the updated weather now says that those will be on the West.

A webcam I often like checking throughout the year is in Finse, south west Norway. It's at about 1200m elevation, with the mountains just behind at around 1500-1600m. Slightly higher than Ben Nevis, and a few degrees more north in terms of latitude.

It seems that at the end of this August the amount of snow patches left are less than some other years (1st snapshot) compared to years like 2015 or 2017. 2019 and 2021 were similar to this year, 2022 a little more left than this year.

Usually by late September / early October the first accumulating snow arrives, then by late October to early November, snow cover becomes pretty much permanent into mid spring above the 1000-1200m level.

First dusting of snow this season for the mountains at around 1400-1500m but quickly melting. Looks like another few weeks until a more major snow event above 1000m as the outlook looks mild.

The start of the ski season in Levi (Finland) has been totally reliant upon the scraped and stored snow from the end of last season as the temperatures have been in the double digits up until this weekend. The season opened today, as the workers have been spreading the accumulation stored, enabling the season to get off on schedule, as you can see, plenty of grass around.

I bet they are hoping for some snowfall soon". temperatures are lower tonight than of late.

First major snow for Finse as well, south west Norway. Should be remaining below zero for the rest of this week now.

Other parts of Scandinavia particularly further north seeing winter arriving as well.

Fresh snow falling @ Levi tonight, as the slope grooming machines are out packing it down for tomorrow

Next week all of Northern Europe is cold. However we won't get snow as the situation is dry with high pressure, so pretty much all of Southern parts of the countries will be snowless. Temperatures freezing at night but we just get a little bit of higher temps during the day. Max temp is around +5. The low pressure in the East is a bit uncertain by the end of next week. If this hits Finland, we will get a lot of snow even in Southern parts. That brings Russia's Moscow a lot of snow so we'll see if it hits, but since high is very strong, it won't probably come here

Surprise! Forecast now shows some snowy weather tomorrow morning in the South East Finland. It won't be on the ground for long as daily max will be +4 degrees. Still, first snow of the season regardless!

Frozen Swedes this morning. Temps below -15c through much of Central and Northern Sweden. Even Stockholm down to -6c. Even for Swedes this has been an impressive cold November for the most part.

My daughter's ex work colleague and flatmate moved to Molde in Norway last month to join her boyfriend  and work over there. Until the last couple of days she has been disappointed as snow has only been on the hills though she has been wild swimming in the fjord.. Should be changing now I would think. Nice to see a group like this on here. We moved from West Yorkshire to Finland a couple of years back to join our son who works here. The climate is certainly different to the UK's and much more to our liking. Proper seasons and plenty of winter snow for skiing!

We are around 200 miles NE of Helsinki and it's usually a good deal colder than the capital. I set up a PWS in Oct 2021 and the link's here if anyone's interested: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/ISUONE6

Daughter sent me these pictures from early this morning in Stockholm. A real Baltic chill with a temp of -11c.
