Might speed up and slow down some of the time lapses and reshare them later.

03z UKV looked interesting earlier. This evening's 15z with the 1 hour intervals for early Saturday afternoon will also be interesting to see what it produces.

the showers here looked pretty dark, i bet if it was 30 degrees or so they would've been great thunderstorms

Mis-calculated the UKV slightly, it's from tomorrow afternoon's run that it starts to show hourly intervals for Saturday afternoon as it reaches into the T + 54 range. Risk is further north east tonight though a bit weak.

Slim pickings once again from the 15z UKV... Blimey, what do we have to do to get a widespread elevated MCS?

Definitely feeling like that this year @LightningLover

The timing is all wrong for this and will be though the diurnal minimum. It’s going to be a tough ask to get anything in the south. Not a single storm here so far this summer, nothing in the pipeline if I’m perfectly honest.

Feels like the last severe, large, very electrically active MCS the UK had was 23rd July 2019! Didn't even affect East Sussex, but was still amazing to witness on radar and lightning maps! Not to mention how buzzing the storm thread was!

It is interesting how much the slight variations in trough positioning recently have tended to stop these large MCS's. Seems to be a genuine thing in recent years. Especially this year which may be due to El Nino and there were a lot more MCS's in the recent La Nina years but generally not enough energy for those big MCS's to occur.

The 2014-2019 period was almost like a large-scale MCS renaissance! Many of my personal favorites were from then.

My fault. I got properly interested in weather in 2020.

ECM looking good for Saturday. Worth noting that the UKV struggles with MCS's if it gets to that.
