Sunday also looks promising.

We had our best storms from September to November here last year aided by warmer than usual sea temps.

My best storm last year was in august, but yes we usually do good from September through to November.

Had nothing during the "breakdown". A couple of drops this morning on the windscreen as I was going to work but that's about it. Hottest place in the country for the longest - no storms. Always the same. 👎 At this point I'll take a shower, anything! Looking black from the West at the moment. I see some small cells are around on radar but not sure if they'll peter out before getting here...

As others have said Sunday looks the most promising for my area but I'll wait and see if it changes as it's still a way off yet.

Again we are at the point where even the storm of the year will not break us even with other parts of the U.K.

But that is not to say the storm of the year is not welcome here. I’m just saying we are so far behind in the storm contest that we are just silly clowns, sitting in a stormless corner, with nothing to say to each other, eating the leftover crisps and being pitied by the others in the room who are all sharing photos, videos and stories about how their lives were changed by the storms.

(Just an analogy)

Heavy sky, humid, heavy rain. And just as Thor was reaching across for the “sferic” button (he really needs to get it moved closer to the desk) he looked at the location and said

”Surrey? Naaa **** that.”

So much potential. Maybe this will give someone in London something good?

Nothing remotely thundery. Overcast all day, a few light showers. Worst year for storms on record here. But we have had a decent spell of hot weather so can't complain too much.

Just training it through Clapham and it’s very black and impressive looking,  but haven’t seen anything flashy

Just been editing my video from Sunday. I just managed to reach the town of Saltfleet (a few miles north of Mablethorpe) in time to catch the northern limit of the storm. But it was as I stood on the coast near a little village called Theddlethorpe that I was treated to a fantastic display of lightning as storms that had previously affected Lincolnshire grazed the coast for about an hour. The display was made even better by a rainbow and then the red glow of the setting sun behind me.

Thank you. I'd say the closest were about 2-3 miles away but they were also occurring much further out to sea also.

It helped that I was standing on a hill with a wide view across the coast.

Missed out on being under the core of the storm, which was about 30-40 miles to my south and I had no chance of reaching there in time, but the lightning display was one of the best i have seen in a long time.

Amazing stills! I think you were in the perfect position for filming the storm, closer isn't always better in my opinion, and to record the storm at golden hour is just the icing on the cake. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Looking forward to seeing the finished video if you decide to post it

Thank you. Having watched my footage back I have lost all feeling of disappointment that I missed out on seeing the severe weather. As you say, closer isn't always better.

The video is uploading as I type 👍

Not my photo but I found this on Facebook, very impressive shot, wonder if red sprites could've been possible

I could swear I saw two on separate lightning flashes above the Sheffield storm on Saturday night. They looked like tangly strings popping up for a fraction of a second above the storm.

An interesting UKV update this morning for the weekend - I'll leave the Sunday Night charts below. Considering some of the disappointment people received this weekend, I think the majority would absolutely love this to come off!

Literally ends up the same place as last weeks’ storms. Ridiculous!

The yellow weather warning yesterday was probably just about justified, with Sheffield the wettest place in the UK with 33.4mm of rain, and several places in the affected areas at or approaching an inch of rain.

Any idea how much rain fell in Suffolk?
