Some further developments on the far western fring of this large MCS. Maybe something even closer to home for us in Bristol/Bath/Gloucester next hour or so if it becomes electrified.

Biblical rain here and frequent T&L, woke me up!!

Where are you based nowadays @Steve_De4? That window rattler was a cool final crescendo. I think it often happens that fresh cells develop on the back edge over the Plain. Oh and as I type it’s happened again!

Just north of Salisbury, on the road to Amesbury, in a new modern village called Longhedge.

About an hour ago, had a very rumbly storm pass near me with lightning and it got better and the thunder became very deep and some gorgeous bright frequent lightning most of it was sheet and I saw lightning from the north, east and west when it was going away it was crazy! I also saw one beautiful fork. Probably the best night I've had in a very long time  😍

I'm one very happy guy!!!! 😃

Well that was a great show tonight. Not sure I like the fact I've had to wait until now for anything of note this year but I guess it was worth the wait 😄

Hunstanton cam lively now

HUNSTANTON.WEBCAM

Watch a live webcam overlooking The Green in the heart of Hunstanton, including Hunstanton’s famous sunsets, on the North-West Norfolk coast, in the UK.

Feels like this is a night for us, just heavy rain that seems to be on its way

Don’t I said to myself not to go in huff if it didn’t happen, but now here I am in a huff cause we are just going to get plain crappy rain. It’s actually really annoying 🤬

I dunno about tonight… SO MUCH LIGHTNING! But so elevated that after a while it felt a bit pointless - couldn’t really film it, got a few photos, heard some big rumbles, but was in a spot between two cells so I never got the full brunt.

Gotta say though - at one point it was just strobe. Standing out in it was ace. Rain a little annoying and mist kept creeping in but not a bad storm at all. Shame it’s all ded now - was hoping to catch the tail end over London.

I’ll try and make a chase vid, but not sure how exciting it will be - lol

OK I'm awake lol

Had sporadic thunder for a while within the rain band, now it has big time intensified.

Lightning every 5 seconds and loud thunder. This is looking to be a goodun of a storm.

Just pulled my PC electrics just incase.

Does anyone know why storms only seem to strike the south coast at night? I know  it's to do with Framnce daytime heated storms drifting north, but why is it so difficult to get a storm during daylight hours, it seems a rare event, I only seem to remember storms when it's dark.

Finally seeing a few faint flashes but it is misty a bit with light rain. Humid.

I would guess that it's because they're most likely to form in the afternoon in France and take time to blow north.  The North Sea probably wonders the same thing about our homegrown storms

Seems you've all been absolutely spoilt further East. I'm still refusing to give up. Currently keeping my eye on some light mizzle near Cornwall, which isn't going to do anything, but still, I refuse to sleep. Maybe if I keep staring into the mizzle long enough, it'll magically do something.

Despite being at work at the I'm very satisfied with tonight's offerings.  Continuous thunder at one point before the rain kicked in.  Fortunately I did manage to sneak away for five minutes and film some of the storm.  And here it is

Well that was awesome! I had a few flashes and rumbles from what I thought was only caused by the stratiform, only to figure out it was actually a storm that developed to my south! The lightning frequency increased fast as it passed overhead. Biblical rain too.
