Munich has closed all tourist attractions, Christmas markets and transport along with shutting its main airport until Sunday following heavy snow

Bavaria’s capital has had its heaviest snow fall in around 20 years

Amazing scenes. Much of Czechia also snowed under, some regions have declared a state of emergency. Some pics of my town (only 10cm or so here) from social media. I’m in London, typically. But am off home tomorrow. Good start to winter 👍🏻

I have seen on the news that it snowed in North London. I am in North London and there isn't any snow. Are they making stuff up even about current weather now????

No idea, it did snow down here last night, twice, just a thin covering, but gone now, replaced with fog.

I've only seen I once, at night, and the moon was visible, it looked like sparkling bits of dust, called it fairy dust, to the kids, they were up late, and I just had to let them see it, they were, as you can imagine mesmerized.

I remember seeing diamond dust in January 1985: it was a super-clear and sunny morning, and the stuff was sparkling in the sunlight as it fell.

Just got back from a walk through the fog where it was like tiny ice crystals falling at times.

It has continued on and off all morning, even with some sunshine which makes it glitter beautifully! Guess that’s where the diamond dust name comes from.

Truly awful. Dense freezing fog. Minus 3 at 10.15am. Sat here with a coffee in the living room in my big winter coat.

Milder air already arrived here in the south west, wind has got up, frost has gone and the showers are now of rain.

Rather cold here today. Still -1.2C after a min of -4.1C. We have fog but sunshine just above it.

We could be on for consecutive two Decembers with an ice day. Quite unusual.

@Alderc 2.0 going for the "Disagree" record in a single post.. haha

It's a shame that rain moves in this evening.. it's still just below freezing here, which is unusual.

Nice to see Europe getting some proper early winter weather.  Sadly the UK is pre-programed to nearly always find a route to mild no matter what is going on around it.

many people will certainly get an ice day.

That will get pushed away this evening, as the rain moves in:

A very cold and foggy day here, but I can't say I'm not disappointed with the forecast of 5C by tomorrow afternoon and cold heavy rain all day, which is pretty much the worst it gets.

I'd rather have the fog. It's still frosty and cold here but with added wetness from all the thawing. Today it's completely overcast.

It's "snowing", but it's little more than a dusting at the moment.

It hasn't been above -1 all day today. It's the first time for years I can remember a full subzero day happening here.

Didn't take long for it to phase out and turn into that fluffy rain we all love.

Certainly a chance for an ice day here but it will depend on how quickly that rain moves across, my gut is we may just miss out on it.

Still to have gotten a max temperature of -0.8c during the daytime at the start of December is pretty impressive, shades of what we saw last December, though unfortunately its not going to lingering around this time.

From a high of -0.5c today to a forecast high of 10c tomorrow, winter does see some big temperature swings!

Chris Fawkes announced the BIG FREEZE goes on.Then shows max temps between 6 and 8 degrees.I don't think he's a weatherman but somebody who dresses smartly and slips past security.

Let's see what happens, as we got no where near our forecast max temps today, didn't get above 0 here on the SE coast, big surprise as far as I'm concerned.
