Still feeling cold in the breeze, yesterday felt ok with a bit of sunshine, starting to look towards some warmer weather now,but have nagging feeling we are not done yet with cold and snow.at least in this part of the region we have remained dry this week, which in itself is quite some achievement.

Still drying nicely.  Some sun this morning but went really bleak this afternoon as grey murk came over from Yorkshire and beyond in the brisk east wind.

The decent spell of weather continues with another dry day today, although temps down on the past couple of days and a bit more of a chilly feel in the breeze. Max temp 8.4C.

@WillinGlossop, forgot to mention,  you could go to Durham. The Newcastle train from Stalybridge stops there aswell as York.

A Face like Thunder oh wow you wrote a book about it… it is a lovely place… had a few chilled long weekends there… strolling along beach just by ourselves… really great place to get away from it all and take a breather 🏖️ 🐟 🦀

Had Worse applied to go to Durham university and went on an open day in 1999… haven’t been back since but I remember it being a really lovely city… might be good to go there with Paddy 👌 was thinking about two day in York then somewhere else for a couple…

Another decent day, its stayed dry, but rather cloudy. Quite chilly though.

This day last year we were under a snow warning, Thurs 8th overnight delivered a few inches of snow. Alas the outlook is exceptionally non-descript.

Cloudy with odd bits of brightness though bitter in the wind

Pretty dull day with the sun trying to come through. Quite chilly, especially when the wind picks up. Seems like it will be a fairly standard March by the looks of the forecast at the moment which I wont mind at all. The ground is drying around us which is nice. At last!

Dull with a few shafts of sun on the hills towards the Snake Pass.

Wind is quite cutting.

tricol Yes we've had a run of dry days, can't recall last time we notched up 5 dry days on the trot. Last March was exceptionally wet and also wintry early on. However, I don't associate March and lots of rain, this March has felt more characteristic of what I expect from March, quite dry, often cloudy with chilly northerly and easterly airstreams. Mid March marks the driest quarter of the year on average in the Lake District, through to mid June. Best time to visit I believe.

Back to today, fine, plenty of sunny spells, despite a warming sunshine, the easterly breeze is cold and requires 3 layer wrapped up attire.

Scuba steve soon got to the Bardsea coast road. No roadworks in town for a change.

Carried on up to Coniston - the climbing playground of Dow Crag and the Old Man looking fabulous when the Sun came out a brew in the Herdwick café, really quiet, everyone waiting for the big day of Campbell’s Bluebird K7 return tomorrow maybe.

Memories of camping down Bowmanstead many time in the 70s and 80s looking out across the lake at night thinking where he could be.

Mixed  thoughts of all the wrangling and fighting that’s gone over the years between Bill Smith and the Ruskin Museum then again, maybe the skipper should’ve stayed with the boat

All down to this which inspired Bill, a fabulous piece of music from a fabulous band.

Had Worse Tell me about it!
