Now there's your rain shadow. Even more pronounced in Preston Blackburn.

Alexis  aye, as often happens in this type of set up, a I am pretty much on the western edge of the heavier stuff with it dying out just a couple of miles to my west while the the tops and  upslopes further east are seeing the heavier rain.

thankfully it’s not snow as at least we’re not missing out on something that we want.

Still it’s a thoroughly awful morning up here.

Wet damp ground, but not sure how much rain fell earlier in the morning. Its been dry last couple of hours at least. Rain radar shows rain to our east, but expecting only dribs and drabs here. Cloudy and quite cool, current temp 7.7 degrees. Indeed least inspiring day of the week weatherwise, typically coinciding with Mother's Day.

Looking back at previous Mother Day's its often a very hit and miss affair, sometimes cold and wintry, sometimes very springlike and pleasant, this one sitting firmly in the average category.

A year ago we had a slight covering of snow that in true March style had disappeared by lunchtime this year we are under chilly drizzly light rain - would be nice to see some Springlike high teens warmth that the 00z GFS teased us with this morning as we end the month and approach Easter.

Had the granddog last night and took him out this morning, couldn’t believe how cold and raw it felt.

Probably only what I should expect at this stage in March but not pleasant all the same and I was glad to get back in the house.

Off over the hill shortly to drop him at home then being driver for wife’s Mothers Day meal and daughters first one as a mother herself.

Joe Snow Yes we were in the midst of a cold wintry spell that had set in on the 8th, and lasted through to the 15th. The 9th brought a few inches late on, which thawed quick on the 10th. The weekend 11-12th was chilly. The 13th milder and very wet, further snow on the 14th.

It's a bit wet and grey, current temp 8°C.  Just to echo @Joe Snow  Post above, this was the scence here on the morning of 10th March last year.  It didn't hang about for any children to enjoy after school.

iand61 A few miles further east and very much on the "downslope" of the hills, there has only been spits and spots around Ramsbottom.  The ground has remained dry all day so far.  I'm less impressed with the phenomena when snow is involved (or rather isn't involved here!), but nice to see it play out today.

The radar is interesting with the obvious rain shadow to the east of the Pennines in SE Lancs, and then rain re-invigorating further west, dry again around Morcambe Bay and then re-invigorating again in the Lake District.  The Met Office "deep dive" showed a similar pattern from a SSW'ly a few weeks back, with various rainfall peaks and dryer slots.

After a few days of predominantly dry weather, it's a rather miserable damp day today with rain at times. No rain shadow here unfortunately.

Ah well my post from earlier in the day was a bust, expecting just dribs and drabs of rain, the afternoon deteriorated quick with a moderate spell of rain, and cold to boot, with temps down to 5-6 degrees and a quick descent into dusk, felt quite wintry and miserable.

Morning all.

Dry but cloudy skies again. The wind from the East has dropped so it doesn't feel as raw.

Busy week again, even more so than usual.

Yes it's a different feel without that cold wind, will feel milder Tuesday as southerly winds kick In.  Dry and grey, 7°C and the fog is still hanging around higher ground.  Looking a bit wet regionwide for tomorrow. 🙂☂️

If ever a day be defined as non-descript weatherwise, today is that day. Nothing to comment on, bland and more so...

Yip, can confirm. Full waterproofs for the dog walk this morning. Garden flooded again. The dry spell has been undone. Might even have to turn my office light back on at this rate. Grim.

Absolutey depressing weather now. Wet and dull winter overall and not particularly mild feeling at all. We need a good stretch of warm sunshine now not just for moods and activities but for my Garden! This is the first time the Brick walls fences, paths in the back have all gone green with Algae! Got a lot of Jet washing coming up.
