Would you count the Lake District as far north? If so, that's where my friends staying at the moment and has sent me these.

Cumbria straddles the two, especially north half, but yes usually features in NW thread..

North of Scotland getting hammered at the moment, maybe we can get lucky with an organised band of showers in the early hours.

Would be nice to just get at least a slight covering to get through the next day or two before the storm arrives at the weekend.

Here's hoping for a covering overnight. Looks like half a chance from midnight onwards.

Impressively cold out there.

Very cold here already -3. Anything that falls tonight will settle instantly. Just need some luck now

Does anyone have any predicted snow shower charts because snow radar only show North Yorkshire / Humberside getting all the showers missing our regions altogether.

edit -4.9 here 🥶

Go  here.  Choose UK Snow risk.  You can see there is a moderate risk for NE coast from 3am, then a higher risk for North Yorkshire after 7am.   TBH its going to take a change in the predicted wind direction for showers to hit NE coast.  Be very lucky to get even one here....

Check this again at about 10pm tonight...

The met office radar you scan scroll forward for radar prediction. Whitby looks to do well. North Northumberland coast might do ok but anything in between I think can pretty much forget it

I don't understand why there is a warning in place if that's the case

They have to give one as there is a risk of snow.  Does not mean you will get it due to the nature of showers... however, very occasionally it goes the other way and there is an unexpected snow outbreak...this is rare.... unless there is a NE'ly

Showers seem to be making their way further south in NE Scotland now....

Models can’t predict showers or where they will be at the best of times

The Met have much more info / data to work with than us so the warning will be justified along the coast where they have indicated . Agree though that showers can be pretty much hit and miss but I wont be surprised if we have a dusting in the morning

That fax chart is for 12pm tomorrow isn’t it after the favourable wind direction ?

Yes.  As the chart only shows 12hr intervals, I take it that the feature running down the coast was further north earlier
