Don't worry, we'll get the desired cold weather charts just when we don't want them, in April and/or May ........

Buzz At least by then you can get decent convective weather out of it. More likely to get thunderstorms than snow from cold synoptics by April/May 👌🏻

Nice to see but not that surprising given the base area of the ski resort has an elevation of around 2100m, with the peak around 3200-3300m. Been there twice, but usually isnt the best for snow given how far south in Europe it is despite great elevation.

Back to mild there shortly so it will all be melting away.

Another cloudy and wet week ahead, but as usual, at least it will be mild… Yay.

Raining again. The land of perpetual Autumn 🍂 🤮

Also noticed that apparently we've had yet another late SSW (sudden Spring wrecker) occur? That's Spring over before it's started then. Great lol.

SunSean yeah, by now I would normally be feeling positive and looking forward to spring, but spring 2023 has given me PTSD.

Oh look another 25mm of rain overnight meaning just 11 days in February has had more than the expected rain for the entire month.

Flooding everywhere again and an 8th consecutive wetter than average month.

reef it's ok, our climate is getting drier and sunnier (apparently). By 2035 we will be like Madrid. 😎

The end of February is looking promising, they didn't state what year in the model waffle thread but my guess is 2029, only five years of death dodging to go to see if they are correct.

 TheOgre

Well february 2007 gave a good winter spell heaviest snowfall since 1988 december..

And havn t checked the other  two years 2011 was pretty boring I think, the beauty of having weather records and archive charts which I love to see again and again..

February 2020 was another record breaking smash very stormy month the wettest in living memory by far a truly disturbed month and the atlantic was so powerful we had cold westerlies and snowfall pretty much the last time we had cold zonality..

This month is chalk and cheese..

SunnyG It's been a pleasant afternoon here after rain this morning. Long sunny spells and not particularly cold (9C).

TheOgre Cold March's seem to frequently lead to good summers too (2018, 2013, 2006 etc), so maybe we should all be hoping for a cold March. 😉

I get nervous whenever March or April are really warm because of 2007, 2011 and 2012 - all years with very good Marchs or Aprils followed by poor or even very poor summers. I'll happily sacrifice some spring warmth in exchange for a proper summer.

Something called "sunshine" has returned for the past couple of days, before the wet gloom moves in again

But what happened to: "Fog" - can't remember the last time the Met put out a Yellow Fog Warning, which would be a typical thing to see in Winter, some real Pea-Soupers in the past

Got plenty of moisture in the ground, but i guess the pattern is too mobile, too much wind around

We'd defo see some though, if High Pressure settled across the Uk
