Looks like after rubbish served up last week and the sunny days this week it the weather god has decided to put us in the spin drier on high speed. Yet another possible storm for Tuesday.

Yes North England and Scotland look to bear the brunt of this one, needs watching as GFS 06z has it arriving during rush hour traffic in the evening whereas ICON is more of an overnight event.

However UKMO has lower wind speeds but further South than the other models.

Upgraded this on this afternoons run so only a bit weaker than Sundays system.  Could be a memorable few days for the wrong reasons.

Still sitting their quietly slightly under the radar suspect Met Office will name it Sunday as they mentioned it a few times in passing.

regardless, it's still going to be windy and mild. nothing compared to the last week. going from one extreme to another is an example as to why the model posters just can't look at data 5+ let alone after that  😄

Yes this will almost certainly be named as well I think, GFS has very high wind gusts across the whole country pretty much again with highest winds focused over Ireland, and Northern England followed by Scotland later into the night.

Worryingly the UKMO 12z run had even higher wind gusts across these regions.

This looks to have higher winds speeds across many northern areas than tomorrow's storm.

Certainly starting to blow, gusting to 40mph at Hurn, it gusted to 70 back earlier in Jan which is about as high as it ever gets there.

Doubtful in view of 'actuals' with Isha and wind forecasts for Jocelyn

and looking blustery here in the SE too. Met O showing 29-42 mph from midday and overnight. So still blowy for this part of the UK.

Trying to avoid any discussion on warnings, but this is where things are all relative. the windspeed may not be that high, but given the built up areas and the funnelling affect buildings make, sometimes a 40+ mph wind is possibly 'felt' to be higher.

What are the chances the yellow warning will be extended further south or will it just be a regular blustery day for us?

Also to note, if you're looking at the potential impact on an area that will be already disrupted from this last night, what might be on paper not in the same league as a previous weather event might have the potential for a much more significant impact.

If that makes sense!

Main wind impacts will be late in the evening and overnight for Northern UK and Scotland, with heavy rain during the day, good chance that the yellow warning does become more widespread I think and still expect it to be named due to the high winds over NI and Scotland in particular.

We share naming with them so they don't have too once it is named by the Irish Met
