So Im back up and around. Got a bit of a scare earlier when I first looked out of the window and saw certain typically warm areas of paths next to the house had half melted, but in fact the layer is complete and building.

I am worried about temps though, with one manhole cover type thing in the garden having lost its snow (presumably due to meltage).

But the snow coming down is reassuringly fine and dense so for the moment we're probably ok. Going to go take measurements in a mo.

All youhave to do to check whether you have + dewpoints & the temp is above freezing is go to a concrete section of the garden- Patio or a bench something like that-

Clear all the snow away- make it totally clear- no more snow will accumulate on this if its sleet-

S

Positive dew point and air temperature now in Ipswich +1, 0.5 c

So sleet here not any new settling

Congratulations Paul, it's been a long wait!

Just measured various parts of my garden and it's between 20-25 cm / 8-10 Inches.

It hasn't really stopped snowing since 6pm yesterday and it's about to get heavier as I type.

I have waited for this though since the 80's so I don't feel bad whatsoever telling people about it

 Great to hear Paul- I know how much of a let down it would have been if you had missed it all-

Looks like another pulse ready to hit you then a bit of a lull-

Same here- another wave of heavy snow here then perhaps a lull-

As for sleet prospects- remember guys firstly the sun is up there behind the clouds & even when it snowed yesterday the temp went up between 11 & 230- so it is tobe expected-

As for this afternoon for the whole of KentI would expect the snowfall to become wetter & certainly on the eastern coasts sleet & rain- especially in the lighter stuff-

Looking at obs the northern coast of France is still seeing -2c so that is positive-

Heres some Areas-

SE London sits on the -4c line all the way through-

Eastern Kent the -2c line-

However dewpoints are expected to get above freezing past East London for around 6-9 hours-

If there is a thaw then its going to be between 6pm & around 2am-

Personally what Im hoping for a break in the weather at around 10pm then total clear skies to allow those temps to plummet-

Expecting wrap around snow in the morning possibly from the west-

WOW the alpine snow is back here in Bex-

S
