Dull and Cloudy here, but that bloody close feeling is still here.

Certinly not writeing anything off today with the wind direction.

If Kane gets anything, then I shall perk up as hes down stream for any storms today, for the first time I can recall!

Yeah makes a change doesn't it

Interesting here - torro says we (Gloucestershire and Wiltshire) are currently under an "MCV".

"mesoscale convective vortex (MCV) --A low-pressure center within an MCS that pulls winds into a circling pattern, or vortex. With a core only 30 to 60 miles wide and 1 to 3 miles deep, an MCV is often overlooked in standard weather analyses. But an MCV can take on a life of its own, persisting for up to 12 hours after its parent MCS has dissipated. This orphaned MCV will sometimes then become the seed of the next thunderstorm outbreak. An MCV that moves into tropical waters, such as the Gulf of Mexico, can serve as the nucleus for a tropical storm or hurricane."

http://www.ucar.edu/news/backgrounders/sto...ssary.shtml#mcv

That would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool.

However it looks ot me moving NW wards fairly fast.

I think that may be it until the next batch later?

( Edit: CC / IC lightning. now. )

Bulk of storm appears of S glos,/ quedgley way.

I know, I think what we are under now may well get very interesting as the day progresses for areas in Mid/North Wales and Herefordshire.

Yeah heard a few more now.

I really hope more pops up down the SE so it moves over us later on.

Theres doesnt appear to be much in the way of more convection down south.

Yep agree with that number, the first flash appeared to be in the Barnwood / Abbeymead area of Gloucester and the last was more Sandhurst direction.

Edit.

Rain has eased up a fair bit too now.

Heavy rain started here, looks like the trough is regenerating right over my head and given the slack weather pattern it looks like its going to be a rather wet day!

Horribly oppressive here.

Well looking at the latest GFS charts there's some fairly decent SB CAPE to be had from Midday throughout the day. All I want now is for this cloud to move within the next 1-2 hours because if it does, the chance of storms across the Midlands is high. A very unstable atmosphere across central and southern England with a warm, humid airmass, so if breaks in the cloud do occur then this would support various weather organisations' forecast for today.

Yep. No real breaks in the cloud here, but there appears to be some sunshine 'trying' to break through.

No feeling as fresh as earlier, with the humidty at least feeling like its increasing.

Weak cells going up over my location, very cloudy here in Essex as well with a lot of low cloud muck about. Looking like the best place for storms today will be over the southern Midlands, cells developing in a line now over that region.
