Still have these nearly constant strikes....... B)

Heavy rain with road flooded with back garden too.

I have noticed that the lightning is coming it seems 2's, 1 strike then straight after another.

Been quite lucky today i think- mainly just here and London that saw any proper storms. B)

The thunder in our storm was really good at times. Often long rumbles with gun shot type noises. Lightning was IC but as it was overhead it was very noticeable.

I'm waiting to see if the storm reverses and runs me over again. B)

Still rumbling away in the distance, nice hailshots there, more or less exactly like it was here. :o

Noticeable towers developing mainly to my north and west. Remains to be seen whether they can develop into full grown CB's B)

Skilfully keeping one eye on the radar and the other on the sky...

They were infact noises from shotguns...fired from all those jealous chaps/esses in the SE...lol....The only problem is, is that they're now having the last laugh with an 'MCS' type event currently B) :o

Not yet k66yla :o

Just had a phone call from my mum , its really bad as she travels further west... Large hail stones and people pulling over!

B) :o I told her to be careful

Yup - can be dangerous, and good advice.

Storm clearing Rochester, now; rare in these parts, I think, for a daytime storm, but still, it's my six month old daughters first go - we even went out to try and take photo's but no chance during the day without specialist kit.

Storm one of the year, ticked off :)

It's all gone a bit quiet here now - not that I haven't seen some quite spectacular lightning and heard some deep, booming thunder though. Just moderate rain now. Feels very humid, 18.4c outside.

Lovely storm in Rochester - at my mate's flat at the moment, only just come online as there were no less than SIX CGs that hit within 100-200 yards - the thunder was insane - another boom as I type, like God punching the ground, lol

A wall of rain then hit followed by gusty winds - now I remember why I love the SE B) ...mother nature making up for her teasing earlier this year!!

What lightning though :o

Hey Dogs...

Yeah - that looks interesting doesnt it - http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ - that stuff seems to be slowly making its way north, and were in a convergence zone i think.. still dont know whats happening in the high atmosphere, but theres pretty well 180 degree shear still i think

Explosive updrafts development over S London.

Is that an outflow boundary pushing South out of the storms I can see on the satelite? Possibly, towers seem to have gone up on this band of cloud that has pushed southwards out of the storms over London.

Guess the lack of sun and high temps cost us here. Storms don't seem to moving very quickly looking at the radar.

VillagePlank , do you think thats it for our parts of kent?... Namely Herne bay to Margate ?

It seems the storm zone has moved further west and north west

Yup - it's going to be difficult to put a cell up, now, with temps receding because of the evaporative nature of rain landing on the ground. However ..... if a cell is already past, say 800hPa you might be in for a chance - all that heat takes quite a time to reach up to that sort of height, and with dusk nearing, diurnal effects may come into play. But, in all honesty, it's a long shot for new cells, now, in Kent - but you never know!

That's weird becuase as far as i can tell the storm over this area started before your's but still hasn't finished, some very good lightning i am currently watching which is further away but still getting the odd strike closer!

Very enjoyable and still hasn't finished. B)

Wow just had the loudest boom of thunder which shook the house and was just after what seemed like a very close strike.

So plenty of CC and CG.

That vorticity/convergence is still showing on NW radar low-level winds vectors (1000 hpa), however its about 50 miles further north....still, potential even in this late evening hour B)
