Still flashing and booming away to my South, thats the first time I've seen a storm come overhead then come back at me!

Very powerful lightning to the South, its very bright but its also very distant.

City airport has preictably fallen silent, earlier they were dodging round the updrafts.

Just started to rain, quite a close strike just then with booming thunder 3s later.

I think me you and Barnet Blizzard could be having the same storm or storms which are closely conected or joined.

all my god..... the biggest hail stones ive ever seen some the size of a 2p coin..... i hope my cars ok...

Had some marble size hail about half hour ago during the most fierce storm I have seen for ages. Kilburn high road is like a river of water, must have been a solid hour of torrential rain, constant thunder and lightning. WOW is all I can say!!!

Wish they would hit Wimbledon so we can all watch it!

Was it 1985 when it got struck by lightning?

But forgot they have a roof now, and probably a free Cliff Richard concert.

AJ, inkeeping track with this thread. I'm watching closely. This afternoons storms have buggered off so. (Still wondering if a near miss although anvil overhead constitues a storm? I'm perplexed as to include a third storm in my sig?)

Phil. (That said, night is still young. :) )

Cell recently popped up just west of Stoke; ideal area to initiate if I'm going to get a storm this evening. Looks fairly hefty on radar.

for weather09 and other Brummy type people, there are new cells firing up just north of coventry, probably from the outflow boundary of the earlier Birminghm cell....definitely worth keeping an eye on for the next hour

ooooh! sun has just started to come out here! hope that will heat things up even if its just enough!

HUGE electrical storm to my east, unluckily it's dodged me to the east but i'm still very happy with the massive storm I had about 1 hour ago. Loads of lightning and thunder to my east though towards west London.

A couple of anvils are coming in from the east/NE direction long time no see from there, which have weakened, wind is NE,mid-level cloud from the SE very slow, and a TCU in that direction and low cloud from the east just to add to the confusion of directions!

Just come back from a fantastic chase near Ashford, Kent this afternoon, I bagged a funnel cloud!!!!.

Funnel cloud looking north just off junction 9 of the M20 at Ashford:

Right guys.

This storm has suddenly intensified into a large one, with some close strikes, i am not feeling safe on the computer so i think i may log off for a while till it's past.

Good luck all and keep safe.

Oh and lighting is about every 30 seconds - 1 minute.
