Well then - that proves it!

MW and TN9 are among the most unfortunate people in the country!

And Blizzards. So unfair!!!

Some very pretty, fluffy convective cumulus here so far - pure white tops and grey bases. Watching the radar with interest for later.

Pretty much the same up here, some nice looking clouds, not much else

CAPE's going up, 720 over much of Norfolk from the latest radar

On schedule - though not as emphatic as first thought

Keeping an eye on two troughs which will come close from the W - hoping that I will catch a 'tail end Charlie' :(

And the second shower has developed about 1 mile from me. fool.gif

lol! I am watching the www.raintoday.co.uk radar, and you are so right- you deffo have a sheild up today. I feel for you, this ALWAYS happens to me in Notts. Hopefully your sheild will fall down in a bit, as there is constant precip building to your west and travelling east. smile.gif

to be fair, GFS has been hinting at heavy showers here all morning until 1pm, when they drift SEwards onto the continent and thereafter any showers will be N + W of London.

shok.gif OMG! You've had 8 thunderstorms this year?!!!! I hate you!! lol!!!!!laugh.gif

Hopefully a good day to come

On the wider picture, looks very positive upstream

Looking at the radar, looking quite good for later, the 850 winds will pick up some good convection.

Unless I am interpreting the radar at the moment - there seems to be SOOOOOO many areas to watch!

There are troughs/lines of disturbance all over the place!

technically i haven't - the 8 are comprised of one distant rumble of thunder each time. Seriously, i take anything these days as a storm!

Overhead-wise, I've had about 4. Most were weak, with just a few rumbles, but i had two moderate storms last Thursday.

I long for a 6th August storm like last year!

There's a line of showers to my SW, but they might just miss me to my South

There's not really any threatening clouds here at present, but early days yet.

Ahhhhh. that's better lol!! Yeah, its weird- how do you calculate an actual storm? I have had 2 days of thunder which consisted of 1 rumble in April, and quite a few rumbles on some other random day in June, and then 2 short lived storms this year. I was about to pack my bags and move south for a minute!!! lol!!!!!

I would say other than a few light showers, that's it for storms for this area today.

Still a couple of loud booms, can't grumble.

Very nicely structured storm just went over, but without lightning and thunder and was elevated rather than surface based. I guess without surface heating and moisture this will be the case. Should bode well for more eastern areas mid to late afternoon though.

Absolutely tipping it down in Central Milton Keynes at the moment.

Still await rain. Looks like that rain in Wales may just get here should it not die out again but as usual its not electrical. Alot of fuss over nothing today imo except scattered sferics here and there.

Well although I only had a couple rumbles of thunder, it is the best I have had since June, and even then that was only a couple more rumbles with some lightning.

But nevermind that, it just goes to show how hit and miss storms are.

More hit than miss seems to be the case.

A narrow anvil steaming overhead from the SW
