Thursday 6th August at the moment (FAR TOO FAR OFF I KNOW) signifying potential plume event...and if those values were true (if only) BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

I know it's almost impossible it will stay like that - but, another thursday! lol - just a bit of trivial observation!

perhaps a combination of both things (6th + Thursday) might equal the best storm ever? :)

Anyway, enough talking of impossible things, sun's out now and some nice altocumulus. Here's hoping those cells over E Sussex turn thundery :)

(I'm going to get told off in a minute I fear for leading this conversation off of current convective chat - hehe)

EDIT - Back on track :) look at this puppy which has exploded in literally 10 minutes!! Some reds, pinks and whites you will notice - this likely to come so close!

Yes i do agree that it does look like we will scrape it now especially us in the southern half of the West Midlands. Meanwhile for the north of our region like Salopwatcher, i doubt they will see anything from this but i wouldnt rule out anything developing later.

sorry guys, I totally disagree with you on all counts...That 'dry' slot, is full of nice warm sunshine giving plenty of early morning surface heating, combine that with the instability in the atmosphere and forced lifting over the welsh mountains and foothills, and believe me, you'll get plenty of rain!...Infact SAT24 already shows some beefy convective clouds filling in this precip-free area

Like i did say though things could devlop in that dry slot later.

What you wont be seeing is the organised area to the south.

CRIKEY

I was banging on about the dry slot, and from nowhere, im in a massive rainstorm, really very heavy... if this keeps up for more than five mins roads will be flooded, its rain that drains cannot cope with...

Just when you think your getting nothing...

Love rain like this (although not thundery)

A couple more rumbles of thunder, some fairly intense rain with it as well.

Hope thats not it for the day.

Bloody typical! The sodding rain band has split in two and gone either side of me. Dry here but very dark to the north and have heard one rumble of thunder to the south towards Weston-S-M. Not a good start to the day!

smile.gif Looks like a few showers have popped up in the last 30 minutes or so the the South West of Birmngham. They also seem to be intensifying.

EDIT: Make that SW, W and NW!

Quite a cross looking sky bowling towards London at the moment - quite dark base with v white tops!

Not looking likely to bother me though - booo!

Amazing! No rain here and the sun is beginning to come out again yet north and south and west of me have had rain AND thunder. Let's hope the next line of cbs out to the west can produce something.
