Not as wet and windy here as I thought it would be (not sure if the worse is yet to come?) but there are some deep booming rumbles of thunder in the distance, and its getting very, very dark....good.gif

And west, nothing much here last night either, give it time although I think it may not be upto much here, but further south,Or when that west wind comes in it`ll be a whole new ball game.

Think this will bring severe gales on a much more widespread scale though.

can't see gusts in-land - say London/S-East etc to get over 70mph

so nothing particularly special- we've had higher before (in the last 5 yrs)

Overnight was fun... around 2am a very large rumble of thunder accompanied with some very high winds which knocked the power off again for a good few hours, although it is back on again this morning. Still raining here and still very windy.

Looks like the strongest winds are still SW of the UK to the south of the depression which is currently centred over SE Ireland .. as mentioned - off the Isles of Scilly gusts in excess of 80mph.

Thats true, as someone who used to watch football myself however I know that often away games would mean early starts for travelling. I'd think the sdsame could be said for thousands travelling to some of the League games in the morning. However given the conditions forecast I think its always going to be a question of "If's", and as you rightly said, any other day of the week then there'd be more of a population risk due to the regular-working commuting numbers.

No travelling involved when its international break  as there is no league games..

But yep i agree with you certainly when there is away games, for example when i went to the arsenal game last season, i set off at like 7am, so it gave me time to have a look around before the game.

The worst is yet to come,XC winds are really picking up now in the SW.

And once those big showers come and squalls that`ll be the fun part.

Can see the Anvil line from the SE London Squall moving in towards Essex now, I'd expect some lively weather in the next 20 minutes, quite a few Sferic Reports with this line near London already.

Yup - stuck at work; lightning seen and heard over last 15 minutes or so, slightly to the North of Erith. Strong winds associated with back-end of storm (perhaps 40/50mph not more)

Looks nasty the cells hitting SE London, maybe some localised severe gusts in the downdrafts plus hail:

Hi Nick,

Yes, getting those at the moment. Bit of a clearance now but revealed another anvil just to our SW.

Regards,

Tom.

Hi tom this is the first line the major is due in a few hours yet mate.yahoo.gif

Yep but I wouldn't play down that front squall line which is already a hundred miles east of me, it has intensified and will be giving a lot in the London area some pretty dramatic weather by the looks of things.
