I'm just so jealous now. The whole country has had decent snowfall and all we have had in West Cornwall is a brief dusting. Just what needs to happen for a decent dumping down this far west?

I know how you feel! I used to live just outside of St. Ives (until 2000) and the only decent snow I can remember was 1991!

Maybe you'll get some on Sunday, if things pan-out as hinted to on here!

Currently clear skies over Trowbridge... Does anyone in this area know how cold it is at the moment?... Unfortunately I don't own any "weather gadgets"!

Apart from the ice threat tomrrow morning, which is clearly a real danger, the degree of cold expected tonight is perhaps a little over dramatised. Exactly 12 months ago, night of 6-7th Jan the low was -10.1 C here.

-4.0 right now, falling at 1.3 C/hr

Some rather tasty fax's at 96 and 120

By the way, for anyone worried about marginality, dont be

850 thicknesses looking fine, 850 temps looking fine and dew points away from the coast should be supportive of snow

Now you can see why the Met Office are concerned - snow going nowhere for 24 hours

Hmmm, that's pretty chilly (and not a million miles from here), so the temperature here must be somewhere in that region too, if I had to guess.

I think it's got down to as low as about -8.5 here in recent weeks, so tonight could beat that

I'm getting sorely tempted to buy myself a basic weather station... Should have asked for one for Christmas, with hindsight! :)

Thanks for that!

Will we get into negative double figures by the end of the night?...

The morning rush-hour could be "interesting"...

Thanks for that Fiona.

Are those figures available on Netweather, or from another source?!

Thanks.

Only joking! All excellent!

Roll on Sunday and all eyes down to the radar! smile.gif

Current temperature at Yeovilton is -14C and likely to get a touch colder yet.

Benson at -17C,

Here in n.Dorset it's a barmy -11C.

Lots of people saying that at this temperature the grit will not do much at all, so the roads are lethal.

Well I didn't expect it to be quite this cold, -10.3C here although its stopped plummeting and levelled off for the last hour after a low of -10.6c!

I guess it shows what a nice 6cm's of snow cover can do!

Actually as I type its risen to -10.2c.

A few other temperatures which arn't as headline grabing much still just as unusual.

Culdrose -4

Exeter -9

Temps are likely to be negative double figures tomorrow night.

I suggest that that it's too cold to keep animals outside such as rabbits, g.pigs etc, unless well protected.

Could be major Snow,as SK is picking out.

Also another worry is salt doesnt really work well in very low temp's,so even IF the road's are gritted they are still deadly.

Salt might become a major problem if this carries on..

There is a National problem evolving .

Winter folk's is here for quite a while yet!!

thx for the pic's Jame's..

Lecky nearer to me,so I often walk up to Devil's chimney.

Did you know you can see the Severn Bridge on a clear day like today from Cleave
